Do you cry easily at sad movies or sad news?

I think It's interesting how different people respond differently to sad movies, sad news, or sad songs. When something happens like yesterday's terrorist attacks in France, I become angry, but not sad. I want to do something, though I don't know what. Some of my friends tell me they shed tears. But show me a sad movie, like The Notebook, and I'm a goner. Even a sad song, like Vince Gill's Go Rest High Upon that Mountain, will produce tears. Are you like me? Or can you always keep a stuff upper lip? Does sad news get to you in the same was as sad movies or songs?

I am totally going to ruin my image on here for what I am about to say, but I am a total sucker for sad songs and sad movies. If the movie or song can move me to tears, then it is a really good movie, in my opinion. For instance, "The Notebook" made me cry, but "Ghost" could not get even a tiny shimmer in my eye. There are some movies, like "Remember the Titans", where I start tearing up before anything even happens, because I know what is coming.

News saddens me, but not usually to the point of tears. Like you, I get angry. This is the main reason I seldom watch the news. Movies, literature and songs on the other hand, get the best of me. I don't know why that is. It seems real life would sadden me more.

@cindiowens I can't handle the news either. Stories of animal or child abuse just makes me sick. Not sad to the point of tears, just sick and angry and disturbed that we live in a world where people do such things.

I often feel manipulated by the news. It puts me in fact-gathering mode. With songs and moves, I'm there to be emotionally involved.

I just heard a beautiful love song - the words were written by @dorianna - and it made me cry. It described a relationship that was so beautiful. it touched me emotionally..

I become overwhelmed with emotion and tear up. Letting out emotion is healthy. I get angry and wish I could do something too.

@TheHorse ..It makes a person want to be sure they can protect themselves. I wonder if we will see that in the streets. A lot of people packing. I would sure think of doing just that.

Last night, I got so ticked off, I actually checked my little .22 rifle and ammo to make sure they were around and ready. (Don't worry--they're stored separately.)

Sometimes I'll even seek out a sad song if I've been toughing it out for too long.

@TheHorse I always cry at sad movies. I can't seem to help myself. Crying at sad news is a different story, sometimes I don't trust all that I hear.

The Notebook gets me every time I watch it. Even the scene from Lion King where Mufasa talks to Simba from the clouds gets me. I lost my father when I was 21.

Sometimes nothing gets to me, other times the sappiest movie will. I prefer happy endings, though. Life is too heartbreaking to spend my time taking in more heartbreak.

Sad world news makes me mad. But there are sad movies that I can not help but cry anytime I see and one in particular is the ending of Titanic.

When I heard the news, I was sad, but more than sad angry, no I did not cry, but when I heard that the French people leaving the Stadium were singing "La Marseillaise" I cried, as I cried when this happened in the movie Casablanca.

It was indeed a very sad day for people of France when more than 130 innocent people lost their life in terrorist attacks in Paris. I was not able to move out of my TV, and I was very angry with the intelligent system failure. However, I didn't cry.

I do not watch sad movies, and I do not listen to sad songs. I prefer to walk around feeling good, instead of upset or unsettled, by a song or movie. What happened in Paris is horrific and sad, but, what it made me feel was anger, pure anger.

I'm a sucker for a sad song and even worse with a sad movie. I have cried through the best of them. I was angry when it happened in Paris but will admit I'm angrier some people are blaming it on the refugee crisis and are not able to see the difference between the attackers and people running away from terrorism. A cousin on said something about not wanting any more refugees in the US. That is sad.

I'm not in that business, so I don't know how easy or hard it is to discern one fleeing from terrorism versus one using the refugee situation as an excuse to infiltrate.

I'm sad when I'm hearing a bad news especially this current news about Paris attack, we can angry with that because violence will not help you with anything. When it comes to movies, I get affected as well especially when it is realistic enough to happen in real life. But still, we have to be positive in life as always.

I don't think it has to be "realistic" to affect me. As with Lion King, it can symbolically represent things I've experienced.

Yes, being deeply emotional, I cry easily at both great joy and sad experiences. When it comes to news, I rarely listen to the media. If someone tells me a sad story, yes, it makes me weepy or a tender story that someone posts on Facebook will bring me to tears. This includes tales of animals as well as stores about people.

If a movie I've liked has a sad ending, it tends to stay with me for a while. I tend to think about it for many days and often get a bit sad when I'm hearing songs or music that played during those scenes.
