Wow, What a Wake Up

At 3:30 this morning I had a muscle cramp in my leg that woke me up. At the same time we had a crash of thunder and lots of rain, very briefly. When the leg cramp stopped I went back to sleep. Not sure exactly what caused it, but it is funny that it went right with the thunder and lightning. Where I lived before had a lot more calcium and magnesium in the water. I also took some supplements. I have not really gotten back into that routine. We have not been eating bananas which have potassium along with calcium and magnesium. So I am thinking that is why I had the leg cramps so bad in the middle of the night. Lucky me, I went back to sleep. Hubby got completely ready and left for work and I never heard a thing.

I often get terrible cramps in my legs and even in my feet just before falling asleep. They are bothersome and painful, I hope that you don't suffer from too many more.

As a teen I got foot cramps when I would stretch my feet. Have you tried changing up your diet?

@Marilynda1225 I agree with that. I only have small ones now.

I frequently awake during the night with cramps in my legs or feet these days, which is due to poor circulation through my legs. It can be really annoying to get back to bed after the sensation has subsided and have the same cramp return.

@GardenGerty I usually get out of bed and go downstairs to make a coffee. There is no point in me returning to bed soon because it will only recur.

Do you try to do stretches when they happen?

@GardenGerty Glad you could get back to sleep. The last time we had thunder and lightning I was rudely awoken when my scared cat jumped right on my stomach. If I have had leg cramps I usually get them early in the morning.

I don“t ask myself anymore what is the cause of my cramps. I eat bananas, I check on potassium and it does not help. Maybe I should walk more.

Magnesium and calcium to go with your potassium. Dairy products or dark leafy greens.

@Marilynda1225 and @marlina besides diet, and as Barry says poor circulation, I know when you take the pressure off your muscles they can pull and knot up. I am going to try to remember to stretch at night and take vitamins. I ate a banana first thing this morning.

I am going to try to "fix" them. I know when I was pregnant they said to do wall push ups to stretch before bed.

Leg and feet cramps run in my family and they are the worst! So painful. Right now I get them more often because of my pregnancy. =( I hate having to get out of bed and walking it out to get rid of the pain.

Before I switched to an organic diet I used to get leg and foot cramps all the time, especially when I had beef for dinner. Now I only get them if I'm cold which doesn't happen that often thankfully. Potatoes are high in potassium too, I personally don't like bananas, they're too sweet for me.
