myLot - Could it Be Better Than Facebook?

myLot - on top of the social media tree?

I admit, I am very, very new to myLot. In fact, I just registered the other day. This is my first discussion. Over the past 6 or 7 years I have been a regular on Facebook. To be honest, I find Facebook to be a joke, most of the time. People lie, people embellish. And, oh, the selfies! When will they stop? You look the same as you did an hour ago when you posted your last selfy. Nobody cares and that's the truth. Now, as I browse through myLot, I find real, honest, discussions. No selfies, no lies. Try to start a discussion on Facebook - it's virtually impossible. People are only on Facebook to promote their online lives. Lives that only exist in the minds of the Facebook user. Some people seem to forget that there are users who actually know them in real life. We laugh at your fake statuses, or at least roll our eyes in amazement at the audacity of making up a fake life just to make yourself appear to be happy. I feel sorry for those who must lie to show happiness. They're obviously very unhappy. The real irritation, however, is that, on Facebook, any real discussion gets lost a mile or so down your newsfeed page. Facebook decides what you want or don't want to see. Hmmm. So, the answer for me, can myLot be better than Facebook?, I have to give it a big fat YES! In fact, as a user of many social media sites (Twitter, Google+, etc. ) I think I'm going to like myLot best of all. I can't wait to save some time (unfortunately I have a "real" job too) to get involved in some of the discussions on here. What about you? Facebook vs myLot? I'd love to read some of your thoughts.

There's a place for both. It's not 'either or'.

I'm sorry but I just don't get why anyone would use Facebook as anything other than a way to keep in touch with family and friends (yes, real people I actually know) who live far off. What reason is there to connect with people from who knows where if I don't already know them? As for Mylot, it's an earning site which does allow us to actually get to know one another via messages but I wouldn't call it a competitor for Facebook, my family and friends wouldn't even think of joining this site, they're not really into internet funzies like I am.

Very true. It amazes me how, well, amazingly popular Facebook has become through the years. I check it out daily because all of my friends and family are on Facebook and these days it's about the only way to keep in touch. Other than that, it bores me to tears.

@MichelleBwriting First of all, I love your user name. I happen to like it here better although I do find Facebook useful for keeping up with family and close friends.

Thanks, Susan! I agree with everyone. I think I'm going to like it a lot better here. And, why waste time on a site that doesn't pay when you can earn a little change on myLot just for talking (something I love to do anyway)? :)

I had been in Mylot since I was 24 years old and now I am 30 years old. I can say it is impossible because Mylot is more similar to Reddit and Twitter than Facebook.

I agree with some of the comments here.. myLot and Facebook have different formats on the contents but it does not mean one can easily outweigh the other due to their advantages and disadvantages. But since myLot was revived, maybe they can slowly incorporate some features such as select newsfeeds according to one's interests, share videos and the like.

I uses both sites for entirely different things. I think I spend more time on Facebook though only because it's friendlier on my phone and I don't have to do as much writing.

You'll still find some selfies once in a while but not that much. It's the conversations, comments, responses that keep myLot active. Facebook? What's that?

I agree with @boiboing - there is room for both and each individual has to learn to use both as they feel is right. I don't lie here and I don't lie there either! I like facebook for the yard sale group which I have used very successfully. I won't give up FB.

Welcome. I don't use FB although my husband keeps up to date with anything that needs keeping up with. People here aren't rude and hurtful as sometimes happens on FB. At least I've found everyone to be straightforward and friendly. I'm sure you'll love it.

None of my family is here. Well except for my brother, but he doesn't seem to be active here now. .Anyway none of my family is here so I have more freedom to talk about certain things. Plus I don't go on Facebook very often. I only use the messenger app on my phone.

Its depends on you, whether you want to waste your time on Facebook or convert that time into money on Mylot. Its just like what's your definition of success and what you want to achieve in your life. What's important for you. Mylot is far better than Facebook but Facebook is also a good place to get connected with like minded people, promote your business and stay updated with your friends and family.
