I got tired of hanging balls...

...on the tree!
I spent some time this morning decorating the tree. We have a lot of 'special' ornaments that go on first in places of honor. These are things we've picked up during trips to Maryland or South Carolina and of course some that are special Tennessee ornaments.
Once those are up I fill in with normal Christmas balls. For some reason the hooks were off of all the balls, so it took more time than usual and I got tired of hanging balls.
I stood back and took a good look and decided the tree was just about perfect! If anyone needs some balls I have extras.

I don't know if you realize that I am quite a ding-dong @AbbyGreenhill and have a strange sense of humor (just ask @Rollo1 and @jaboUK; and others), but I love the title and the last line. Please don't be mad, I know the tree is beautiful.

A couple of years ago, I bought a tree that was small enough to sit on a high side table I have. It is 3 1/2 feet tall. I decorated it with my favorite decorations and, since then, I never undecorate it. I just slip it into a really large commercial trash bag, store it in the garage, and just take it out and set it back on the table each year. Makes my life much easier!

We have two small trees that we do the same thing with - they stay decorated and we keep them in the basement - but my husband knocked one over and the balls are all over the floor...what a mess.

My tree is now standing in my living room undecorated. I plan on doing it this weekend and I also have some very special and sentimental ornaments that I hang every year.

@AbbyGreenhill Two of my sisters loved to do the Christmas tree when we were all living at home. They were so patient, hanging icicles one by one.

We don't decorate until about two weeks before Christmas. We will go cut a tree and decorate it the next day. I love Christmas but i don't want to look at it for a whole month.

Last year we kept the tree up until Russian Christmas which was the 8th of January I think. I hate the look of the house when the tree gets put away - its sad.

Since we were in town with the truck yesterday we bought our tree. We usually never buy it this early but since it was already sitting in the lot we figured that it would stay as fresh in our yard as theirs. It's sitting in the snow in the shade now. I will put it up in a week or so. For the past couple of years I have just put the lights on and nothing else. I like sitting in the room relaxing in those lights.

Yes, the lights are relaxing for me too as long as I don't put them on the twinkle mode - that gives me a headache!

@paigea This tree has a remote with 6 or 8 settings I only use two of them - colored lights or white lights.

Sounds like you have been busy. I love decorating the Christmas tree, and placing the balls and ornaments all around. I am not sure if I am going to get to do it or not this year. My husband is sick right now, and I can hardly be away from him.

Sorry to hear that about your husband. My husband is under the weather and coughing up a storm, but hopefully a trip to the doc in the morning will help.

The good thing about living alone with pets is I don't need to buy trees or ornaments, if I really want to be around a christmas tree I'll invite myself over to a friends house.

@AbbyGreenhill I love the dramatic pause. I decorate our tree pretty much the same way. The special ornaments first and fill in with the rest.

I really need to give away some of the basic ornaments - someone could probably use them. We went to a smaller tree, and where we put it we only decorate 2/3 of it, so lots of leftover balls.

, though I'm not doing my tree just yet.
