I Love Christmas Caroling of Kids

While we were having dinner last night, we heard small voices singing Christmas carols near our door gate. I peek through the window and saw children singing gleefully. I went down the door gate to listen to them. I recognized they were the kids in the neighborhood. My husband then came along smiling. He requested them to sing more and they gladly did. Then he gave them some money. The kids joyfully, sang “We Wish You a Merry Christmas followed by a “Thank You” song. Then, they happily went to the next house. I then thought of preparing candies for the kids next time around so they will be happier. I was once a kid so I know the cheers it bring to their hearts. I enjoy this Christmas Caroling tradition if done by kids. But not, if done by strangers who came over to abuse this tradition. Do you have this Christmas tradition?

We do it here every year .. We go caroling from house to house. Last year we were invited to a house and to our surprise it wasn't even big enough to hold the twelve of us who went there. What amazed me is that those [poor people wanted to give us money since we were using the funds collected for the children with HIV .. they seemed upset that we refused.. so we took it anyways. It was truly the spirit of Christmas that we found there in that small shack,

It is so touching that poor as they were, they still want to give. What a blessing to find such kind of generous spirit.

That is a very nice gesture. Despite them being poor they give gleefully to compensate for your group's caroling .

Me too. But we only give money every 26th morning. It is a custom from my Mother that our house is open for anyone and she will give some money to others. That is our way to give back. That culture is from y grandmother and grandfather.

Hmmm, maybe because it is so cold in your place so kids can't go out at night anymore.

How can anyone abuse Christmas Caroling? I've done it and totally enjoyed it. I never got money for it or anything else. That wasn't the purpose to go caroling. It was to have fun singing for different people who might not be able to get out and enjoy Christmas.

Some people here use this to extract money from people. Our church do yearly caroling to bring the joy of the birth of Christ from house to house.

I like listening to Christmas caroling, whether from kids or adults, as I think it's really joyful and peaceful. Yes, I think the kids will be happy to receive candies as well. I don't think we have this Christmas tradition here. I only got to listen to Christmas caroling when visiting a Christian friend on Christmas or in the mall.

I haven't seen carolers since i was a child. Our church used to go out and sing to the "shut-ins" those who can't get out often. I wonder why the kids don't do that here in Canada? Haven't seen one in 35 years.
