We're off for a few days

Vince's brother and his wife called in around lunchtime yesterday on their way to Walpole on Western Australia's south coast. They do a lot of camping. Their trailer is purpose built to carry their tent and other equipment and they get right off the beaten track when they go touring.
So, because we can, we've decided to take the bus and travel down to Walpole tomorrow to spend a couple of days with them. We feel so fortunate to be able to make these snap decisions. For that short period, everything here should tick over nicely and if it doesn't, we'll soon be back to take care of things.
I've been washing a few windows each day, taking out flyscreens and washing the frames, etc. We've been away so long the house really needs a good spring clean. But a short break will give my back time to recuperate and I can get going again when we return probably on Sunday. So I'll be here for a while longer but when I disappear, you'll know I'm down among the big trees.
Several hours later: We got 45 minutes down the road and a fanbelt came off so we've come home again
Maybe next time

@TheHorse Apparently it has two fan belts and only one slipped off. It hasn't even broken. It's just such a big vehicle if you had to have it towed home. And we have a good mechanic nearby and would rather he did any work that needs doing.

Vince can put the belt back on himself but he was a bit concerned about what caused it to come off in the first place. We didn't want to go too far away until we got it sorted. And we'd just got to the stage where our list of chores was quite small. I've now added 'fix the bus' to it.

I´m doing some cleaning little by little too. And if anything that means fun comes along, I take it. I should get flyscreens. We have lots of night moths this year. And even though they don´t do harm, they are a nuisance.

@JudyEv I live in the city so my nearest bird companions are a couple of doves that have made their nest 5 meters away from my terrace. I dread that the neighbor´s cat will eat them

@marguicha That would be very sad if the cat catches them Hopefully they are very street-wise. Do you have pigeons nearby? It seems we found pigeons everywhere we went.

I was just about to wish you a happy trip - and then I read the last para. :( At least there will be a next time for you both - something to look forward to. :)

@JudyEv - Our worst non-trip was after our eldest got car sick before we'd even left town and threw up all over the back seat. It was just too stinky to drive anywhere for the rest of the day.

@troyburns Isn't this the pits? Ours weren't too bad really as long as you didn't let them read.

That sounds nice. I miss the camp fire. I don't think I have been camping since 1995. Enjoy and hope to hear about your trip when you get back.

Unfortunately we didn't get there. But maybe another time. Such a shame.

We've had a few days like that and it is so much fun just being so free to come and go. Unfortunately we had to come home this time as a fan belt has come off.

That is disappointing. I was thinking I'd love to be camping right now but its too cold here. Our weather is crazy, its warm and no snow expected for a month but still no good camping weather.

I will be cleaning again sooner than I hoped as we had to come home to do some repairs.
