Sugar cookie moment

I mashed up butter and shortening into sugar and then worked in a store and home egg, slowly building sugar cookie dough.
After the dough cooled and hardened in the fridge I brought it out and showed Mom. She had a lot of fun rolling the dough out and cutting out star shapes.
My idea was to give a baggie to a group that is coming to Mom's church to sing and also another baggie to our butcher. Mom ate a baked cookie and wondered when we would make more. She sounded so wistful. I promised that we'd make more before Christmas.

A little vanilla in the dough mixture makes them more tasty.
