Do you put up a Christmas Tree?

I haven't put up a Christmas tree since my son was a little boy. The cats keep knocking it down and so I told him to choose; have his cats or a Christmas tree, he preferred to have cats. When I did have a tree I used to put candy canes on it and he could take one of the candy canes to eat each day until they were gone. That was 40 years ago so people were not as health conscious as they are today.

I do put up a Christmas tree though I do not load it down like a lot of people. And I do not put one up on the first of December cause we buy a cut, real one and that dries out pretty quickly. I need to get off my rump and get one super soon. Maybe tomorrow afternoon I'll be able to.

I may sound like Grinch but I just do not need to decorate any more, but I do go to Church for Christmas services.

What to do? Hang up the cat! Put the tree outside or leave it out there and let mother nature decorate it with white sugar if that ever happens again? Things have certainly changed over the years. I don't know about my decore', I'm still thinking about it.

haha, the cats must love the tree very much. They cannot knock down the trees that are growing outside, and they probably are very fascinated with the trees in your living room.

of course it is in a cat's nature to want to climb trees.

I live with my brother and he puts up a tree every year. When I lived alone and the kids were all gone, I didn't put up a tree.

We put up a tree every year. The hubby prefers a real tree over an artificial. Our youngest cat loves to play with the ornaments that hand on the lower branches. I place plastic ornaments on the lower branches just for her. I do purchase candy canes, but they go into the stockings.

@winterose I keep a spray bottle handy. It tells the brat that the tree isn't her playland. LOL

I have two trees I made and decorated from tomato cages. They are green garland and have lights. i hang some small ornaments on them. i found I was the only one doing the putting up and taking down, so I quit doing anything much. We have not even bought a new star for this year. We usually do that every year.

It seems this feeling of laissez faire is happening to many people this year. Of course you need help and shouldn't be the only one decorating the tree and all the trimmings.

No tree yet! We do have a 6.5 ft Christmas artificial tree and a mini tree, but I've been lazy. My family celebrates Christmas at a relatives so we might not put the tree up this year.

We used to put up 2 fully decorated trees in our home, but we have scaled back to just 1 these days. Its is beautifully decorated and all of our decorations have many memories tied to them.

We had that issue, then made a new base that couldn't be tipped growing up.

We always put up a real Christmas tree when I lived in New Jersey and until I moved to Ohio. For the past six years, we've used an artificial tree, since it's not allowed in our apartment--before that, the condo. Since my mother passed away, I've foregone the tree last year--the same for this year, since I'll be spending it alone.

I have no small children around, so I just have a tiny fibre optic tree. It's enough for us.

that is like me, I have nothing to show that it is Christmas, I did when my son was little but not now.
