It occurs to me that with the title of my discussion I am disclosing where I live. Of course several of you already know what city and state I live in. I refer to the few people who live in my area (one of which who lives in my city) whom I've interacted with here but only sparingly. These are the people to whom I am truly "disclosing my location."
Onwards!
Sci works is exactly as it sounds. It is an interactive science museum that I visited many times as a child. Back in school this was one of the "field trip" staples. It was both educational and fun, and one of the field trips that took most of the school day.
I think kids still go to this place for field trip days. I haven't heard about any recent trips from my niece or nephew though.
Old Salem is actually a nice little area right off of the downtown portion of my city. It is, as the website describes, a "Living History" town. It recreates the atmosphere of life from 1766-1840. I had many fun trips as a child, but one somewhat memorable one where I had fallen and scraped my knee.
Now it did hurt something fierce, I can remember that. Most of the pain, however, was from my inability to process it on my terms. I have always been the type to shy away from attention when I am hurt as I need time to calm myself down and process how badly I am injured. The nice aides of Old Salem, alongside the teachers and field trip chaperones, did not leave me alone to do this. I have a vague memory of trying to tell them this.
The last time I went to Old Salem was shortly after graduating high school so ten years ago this year. They offer a vast learning experience, but more recently cater to fun and games for the kids throughout the year.
I've thought about going to visit Old Salem to see how it has changed, I know they are constantly trying to keep it as authentic and original as possible.
What educational, fun and memorable attractions are in your area?

One that students at middle school areas visit is a wetlands to look at waterfowl. Zoos of course are great. There is an old roller mill that used to use water power to grind wheat. At this time of year there is a place to go that recreates a more pioneer type Christmas, also on the grounds of the Old Mill Museum.

All very interesting place to visit. I love to read about and visit places that reenact various periods of time and their way of life.

I am guessing you must be referring Salem of Mass. I've never been to that state, though I would love to.

It sounds like something that I would enjoy. We have in this area an old steam train, and I remember my Grandparents always took us on. We have a few museums about the area. I can always say a lot of them items my parents grandparents owed and we donated to the museum.

THere is a park across from where I work that has an old train engine in it. We also have a train type museum where you can ride on a train. That's about 45 minutes away give or take though. I love learning about the history of towns and how they were founded, etc. So these kinds of places are really my element.

We live in an extremely rural place. One might enjoy all of the cows and chickens.
