The Column on the Right

How many have you pay attention to the column we see on the right hand side of our mylot page?
It didn't draw my eye the first few times I read a discussion.
Then I spotted this column titled "You Might Also Like".
Once a post has a tag in it, mylot tries to find other posts with similar tags to intrigue us. Some of the posts are recent, some are quite old. Some of the writers are no longer active, but a surprising number have responded to my comments.
The "you might also like" column has lead me to some interesting posts. They lead you down a lot of different trails if you just keep choosing new posts from those lists.
It is also a great reminder to be sure to add tags to our posts. They bring traffic, even a few years after the original discussion ended.

I am surprised at how many times I get a response when I comment on an old post. Even comments lead others to your post.

I have gone to it but the posts I looked at were 3 years old and the author is no longer active so I skip it. Maybe it is more updated now since many more people are writing.

Even if they are not active there is the possibility they still have notifications. I keep hoping that they will come back. My only reservation is if I know they are deceased, I do not reply, but I miss them and mourn them.

@GardenGerty if I knew they were deceased, I wouldn't comment, but as I'm new to mylot I wouldn't be aware unless informed.

I find a mix of new, a few days or weeks old and some that are even up to about seven years old.

@Morleyhunt There are many of us here. Some have changed their names which makes things a bit tricky. JudyE was taken so I had to add the 'v'.

I have noticed those, and yes, I have responded to a few of them. I also have a few old discussions that have been revived again, and I think it is because of the discussions on the side. I never thought that any of my discussions would ever be revived, but now, that they have, I can interact with them and earn more, so that is a good thing.

there are good articles in the list though often from writers who have yet to return to Mylot since the relaunch

It used to be in a different spot on the old myLot. It took me awhile to find it. I have gone there to read and comment on quite a few different discussions.

I tend to only use it if it is someone whose name I recognise!

That would be me. Meander, explore read, meander some more. At the end of the day I wander down a good many rabbit trails.

Thank you Morley Hunt, It is really a very good idea to try. I think there is much we can do with inactive contributes, but still I see a great opportunity to explore a lot.

I have always tagged, or almost always. A friend long ago pointed out the advantages. I do go to the "you might also like" and I do respond to old discussions. Often it is in hope that the OP will get a notification and come back. If they are back, I am interacting and they are earning. That makes me wonder if the old users come back if they will have a little money sitting in their bank from me, and others like me, doing that.

I used to, then I realised quite a few of them are quite old..., so I don't bother now, plus.., I have enough trouble interacting and connecting with the people I already follow....sometimes...there just isn't enough time....

My use of tags is not very consistent. I need to work on that.
