So Proud Of Myself

Getting Ready For My Walk

I am so proud of myself right now, I could burst! I have managed to do 50 minutes of walking without stopping. I did the walking in our basement. Of course, my feet are killing me right now and I am just relaxing here while reading and commenting on my friend's discussions. After the relax time, I have to go and do some housework which is not as much fun as mylotting or walking. The weather here is dreadful right now.

You must have an extremely long flight of stairs if you can walk downstairs for 50 minutes, or did you just walk extremely slowly?

I see that I didn't express myself very clearly here. I meant I went downstairs to walk. My stairs only have 13 steps.

@marlina I assumed that was the case, but I could not resist adding the above comment.

We have a huge basement with concrete floor, so I just go around and around with great music. I follow the beat of the music and I feel wonderful after.

@Rosekitty What you can do (if you are so inclined) is walk on the spot while watching TV, If you don't have the space. Easy solution.

We went to Italy for the last grocery shopping before Christmas. The shops were not too crowded at noon, it was not too bad, but I am happy to be back home.

@marlina Even when we lived in Monte-Carlo, we were not very far from the Italian border, only 20 Km.

Congratulations on you wonderful achievement today. it sound like you are making a lot of progress. Please keep it up and don't stop. Once you stop it is so hard to start again. Let me tell you I know. I broke my arm last year and after it healed and I spent time in physical theropy for it I didn't get back to my exercise program right away. I kept putting it off saying OK tomorrow. But then tomorrow did not come. Finally I forced myself to do it. Man was I sore for a few days but it was worth it. Now I am back doing my daily exercises and routine and I do feel so much better. It is good when you feel wonderful after an exercise period. Keep up to walking it is so good for you.

Sorry that you broke your arm last year but glad that you are okay now. Sometimes I have to start all over again as I have health problems. I hate when it happens too. I feel so good when I can push myself.

@marlina Yes I understand. The broken arm was a funny accident and not really my fault at all. One day I might tell the story but for now it is fine and back to normal. Did take a lot of time to get it that way again.

It's better to exercise as near to home as possible. Especially if you can't walk or stand for too long without pain. I'm glad you were able to walk for so long, and it seems you've chosen a good place to relax as well.

@marlina I bet it is nice and quiet as well? I've never had a basement, but my sister has one and it's mostly a quiet space to relax.

Do you use a fitbit or any of those the devices? I know they are the rage right now.

No, I do not use a fitbit, the fitbit doesn't do the hard work.

@marlina I know it doesn't do anything, but those who use it love it - it 'makes' you get up and move...it would take dynamite to get me moving.

Good for you! I don't think I could make myself walk for 50 minutes on my treadmill. Maybe, if I had a TV to watch while I was doing it.

@marlina I did ask my husband to do that for me. I guess I first have to prove to him I will use the treadmill before he goes to the trouble.

My right foot gets numb after about 20 minutes of walking due to that leg artery being blocked 100%.
