Tin of Memories

I left a few decorations up, like my front door wreath and the holly at the arch together with the photos of my grandchildren in their cute frames, but the rest went into my Christmas tin.
The Tin is ancient and belonged to my Great Grandmother . . . it was given to me by my dad when i was six years old and looking for a big enough storage space for all my hair clips and ribbons. For many, many years it stood on my dressing table keeping all my hair adornments safe and together.
It was only after I started working and moved into my own flat where I had my first little Christmas Tree in 1980 , that I needed a storage space for my tree ornaments . . . so my tin was changed to safeguard the new treasures of my life.
Today as I packed it away, memories flooded back of a time with my family and especially my dad. People come and go, but memories stay forever.
As you pack away the special markings of a Christmas done, take time to embrace some of the special memories that come with them and send any heartache to the wind.
Happy Day.

Lovely thoughts for the New Year. I imagine that your memories are actually much bigger than that tin.

I know what you mean. Little things mean a lot to us because of its sentimental value and how it brings back fond memories of the past. While putting away our Christmas tree ornaments, I cannot help but get a little emotional when I see the new ornaments that I put in my boyfriend's Christmas tree signifying our first Christmas together.

I will not pack my tree and decorations until New Year's Day.
