And so it goes. All the unseasonably warm weather we have been having is over. It's howling windy and sleeting out. The standing water and slush is getting deeper by the minute. All the bare trees have ice collecting. This shot is of my cherry tree in my backyard covered in ice. Yikes glad my running is over today.
I'm not afraid of driving in this kind of weather have done it my whole life, it's the other nut jobs out there driving like it's a beautiful summer day that scare me. I have seen a few go flying by like it is.

Yes we have the same issue here, the other drivers make it dangerous.

@fishtiger58 Many think 4 wheel drive is the green light not realizing that while you can drive better with 4 wheel drive, on ice you still can't stop!!

I know how to drive in snow and ice, but apparently some don't. They are scary.

@BelleStarr No kidding. They think they have it all covered and drive like it's a summer day. Once you start sliding on ice all you can do it sit back and wait to stop.

I could not get any sleep last night because of the wind throwing the sleet, ice, and whatever kind of precipitation one wants to name, against my window. Like you, we had a fairly warm December, but not now. We've got too much rain this year, and it looks like these storms are just going to add to the financial and human carnage. I can't say how many people drowned because they underestimated the amount of water they were driving through.

It's nasty out, that's for sure. It started snowing while I was in the dental office. Blowing snow with the wind as high as it is made it difficult to drive. No one was going fast here. For which I was glad. I was afraid of being rear ended on my way home. It's also slippery, so I had to take it real easy coming to stop signs and red lights so I wouldn't rear end anyone.
Great picture of your ice laden tree.

@fishtiger58 I'm glad the ice is melting. Any sign of snow or is it missing you?

The cherry tree I took a picture of today is diseased, we are not sure we can save it.

@fishtiger58 Oh, what a shame. I'm sure the orchards around here are sprayed to within an inch of their lives too.

@JudyEv We don't spray our trees my husband picks the bugs off by hand. If we can't save it we will get another.

We have had more ice than snow, and we saw where someone flew off the highway and the vehicle was on its side a long way off the road.

I can't tell you how many fools I saw on the road in my little town today. An accident waiting to happen.

I woke up to an icy mix on my deck this morning. We had some pretty nasty weather overnight and glad I didn't have anywhere I needed to go today

I think what we had yesterday has reached you, it melted overnight here. I was very pleased it is gone.

It's rare when we get ice here in central Texas, but when we do, it reminds me too much of where I grew up in Nebraska. I hate ice and you're right, the idiots think they can still go 70 mph and stop on a dime @fishtiger58 .

@fishtiger58 And what gets me is like, "Did you not watch the weather report on the news last night?" or "Maybe I should leave 15 minutes earlier than usual to get to work tomorrow." No common sense for some of these folks.

I have lived in the Chicago area my whole life, so I know how to drive in this mess. But those other jokers are going to kill someone someday, they really should know better.

Being retired there is no need to go out in any kind of bad weather and we don't!
