My "getting out of this apartment" fund

I've decided that I'm really tired of living in a second floor walk up and being limited to one bedroom. I was really grateful for a place to live when I came here, but it just seems smaller every year and I want more space to do art and things like that. There are some great places to move to near me, including a very nice six-plex in a quiet neighborhood with private fenced patios, two bedroom and $25 cheaper than where I live now, but the kicker is, as always, the deposit. As well as moving costs because there's no way I'm schlepping my furniture up and down those stairs and loading it in my little sedan. So I've started a fund. I'm working overtime and trying to get art commissions on the side, as well as some small editing jobs. Every bit of what I get extra is going into that fund. What I wanted to know from you fine folks is, do you have any ideas? I'm an artist. Is there any particular kind of art that you'd like but can't find? Small pieces? Unique greeting cards? Illustrations? I had the idea to do a famous quote and place it next to a high quality pen and ink drawing of the quoted person, and put it on an 8 by 10 card for easy framing. They could be good for offices or anywhere in need of a bit of inspiration. Any other wacky ideas for my "getting out of this apartment" fund?

Sell artwork on fiverr or etsy. Make a small coloring book, and sell it as an "adult" coloring book. People are going crazy over those right now. I don't know about fiverr, but on etsy you can sell a digital PDF copy, and it would be pretty much no money out of your pocket. Also, pick up ANY spare change you find and start saving it in a jar or something. There is a blog called Found Money in the Street, where she just shares the spare change she finds laying around. She finds about a buck a week, sometimes more. Not much, but think what it would be at the end of the year.

@Rohvannyn You're welcome. As for a theme, a lot of people in a couple of groups I'm in are going crazy over a fantasy (dragons and such beasts) themed one. Then there are the "adult language" ones that seem to be getting big. Actual ADULT coloring books with foul language done up all pretty.

Now there's a great idea! An adult coloring book. You're right, those are really popular. Now to come up with a theme. Thanks!

What about designing products for Zazzle or other print-on-demand sites like that? You could sell the same image multiple times on various products, and still mat or frame the original and sell it, too.

Your bee is lovely. Hope you get the amount you need soon. And, with a place that you really like for less than what you are paying now that much give you some incentive.

Moving is always a big pain in the butt! However since we aren't rich saving is good also getting rid of things you don't use. Sell items you don't use or want save the money. Sell things online places like craigslist are free to use. It will help you have more money and less things to take and hopefully you sell enough to be able to have money to buy new things you need.

@Rohvannyn pretty much, or people could have a favorite poem, and want to frame it with a print. I see those on etsy now and then, with a saying or a poem. Quite pretty

@Jessicalynnt @rohvannyn We've done some nifty poem/illustration pairs. You are welcome to post them as a sell item if you'd like.

It sounds as if you have more ideas than I would. But I shall make sure to interact with you regularly to help put some myLot pennies in the pile.

It sounds like a great plan. I am completely non artistic so I don't have a suggestion.

I was kind of looking for ideas from non artistic folks - because artistic folks would have what they want already!

@Rohvannyn But I just have no sense of style and don't buy anything artistic! I am hopeless. Now, if I had a lot of money I would pay someone to just come to my home and tell me what I would like. I hope someone gives you ideas. My extra earning comes from mystery shopping and it is not artistic.
