Diary Monday 28th December 2015 The Other Boxing Day

As the bank holiday that traditionally follows Christmas landed on the Saturday, the Monday became the new Boxing Day Bank Holiday, though being out of work at present it felt like any other day to me. I never left the house, and spent most of the day online, glued to my TV set and doing some job searching. Such is my jet-set, adventurous rock and roll raving life style nowadays. Arthur Chappell

I bought a lot of stuff online for boxing week. I don't normally do these things, but I was just tired of waiting.

it saves a cold frustrating shopping trip if you can get stuff online

You've been looking for a job for so long Arthur - you would have thought something suitable would be out there somewhere. Good luck.

the welfare people press me to concentrate my work search in call centre roles as I have done them before but my sales success rate is poor and most companies know it or see it easily

Monday was not a holiday here, but it was Saturday (St. Stephen's Day), everything was closed.

I had a fun busy holiday and some days I was glued to the sofa, and others I was out with the family.

We had a Monday holiday too except we forgot and Vince drove into Donnybrook to try to buy a battery for the generator. Duh! Shop's shut!

I find the shops being shut over the holidays really frustrating too

Being retired means to me that the holidays days off do not amount to much.
