Alternative guac

Adult tongue popper! Once I got used to the garlic whiz bang, I liked it.
What had hubby whizzed up in the blender? Guacamole.
He thawed out a bag of common green peas and ground them up in the blender than gradually added a ripe avocado and green onions and cilantro and fresh lime juice. And don't forget the garlic. I am sure a little less fresh garlic could be added. The green glop was too thick so he added a slurp of soy sauce.
Its guacamole yet it could also be used as a sandwich spread instead of mayo. It could be included in pasta dishes and I can imagine it spread on pizza instead of the usual red sauce.
The bonus: cheap on the pocket book and excellent fuel for the old bod.

Sounds interesting! It is common to have mushy peas served along with the traditional fish and chip supper here:

@sallypup These start off as dried peas, so not sure how much amino acid remains in any case:
When you need a staple side dish to go with classic British meals, it's always a great idea to have Batchelors Bigga Dried Peas in your cupboard.

I had never added soy sauce, but would use lemon juice, and usually a jalapeno or two.

@gardengerty Hubby would love you and your jalapenos. The lime juice added some interesting zest.

The green pea base sounds interesting and delicious. It would work well as a pasta sauce (instead of pesto) and I can certainly imagine a 'Mexican style' pizza using that as the base (though I always think that guacamole should be eaten cold).

@sallypup There's a lovely story about a politician who had a northern constituency and was sent on a photo opportunity in a chip shop. When they slapped a spoonful of mushy peas (the traditional fish and chips 'side' in the north) he allegedly asked if it was guacamole.
