Are any of you fans of the X-Files, the TV show that ran through most of the 1990s until about 2003? If so, you will be glad to know that they are doing a remake of it as a miniseries.
The slant of the TV show will be a little different from the original series. In the new version, Mulder and Scully explore conspiracy theories and the idea that some of the unexplained events may be caused by the government, rather than aliens.
The creator has gotten some of his ideas from some the government spying revealed by Edward Snowden, the Thrive Movement conspiracy website, the actual discovery that human DNA can be permanently altered (changing people's offspring), and several other topics.
For fans who want to get a sneak peak, here's where you can find out more about show, the characters, the topics the new X-Files miniseries will cover and where you can see the trailer: http://thedailyvoicenews.com/2016/01/17/the-long-awaited-return-of-the-x-files-to-television/
I used to watch the original show and went to one of the movies. What about you? Are you a science fiction fan? Are you looking forward to the new X-Files?

I love our DVR. It makes it possible for me to watch things that I missed in the past.

@just4him - That is too bad. Other than the news, I only occasionally watch shows when they are actually on. In fact, the only time I do is when I am writing reviews for the online newspaper where I also write.

@DeborahDiane It does make it easier and I used it all the time when I had satellite, but now that I have regular television, there's no DVR.

I think these six episodes will be just the right number to bring back a lot of memories. I'm looking forward to them.

@BethieAnnie - I'm so glad that they went with the same cast, too. It all starts on Sunday night, then episode 2 will be on Monday night. The remaining 4 episodes will be on Monday nights.

I didn't watch it often back in the 1990's, but when I did I enjoyed it. It will be fun to watch these six episodes.

@DianneN - Yes, you can! I often watch TV and respond to comments on MyLot at the same time.

I understand that they have modernized the story lines. It will be fun to hear what everyone thinks of them.

@DeborahDiane It's worth starting the series. If I don't like it, I can always get on myLot!

I am a science fiction fan, but not fantasy. Too many shows and movies cross that line. When they get silly, I walk away. I have set my DVR to record the new X-Files. I hope they stay on my side of the line.

I have heard that the second and third episodes are better than the first, because the first spends too much time bringing everyone up-to-date. It will interesting to see if I agree with the critics who have already seen the first three episodes.

@DeborahDiane I'll need the bringing up to date part. I didn't watch the other shows very often.

I enjoyed the series until its last few seasons which were not very good - the reboot sounds interesting though

For those who think they might watch it, I will tell you the same thing I told Elizabeth Wallace. "I have heard that the second and third episodes are better than the first, because the first spends too much time bringing everyone up-to-date. It will interesting to see if I agree with the critics who have already seen the first three episodes."

Yes, the X-Files will probably be most interesting to its original fan base.

Then I hope you enjoy this reboot. This is what I have heard about it: I have heard that the second and third episodes are better than the first, because the first spends too much time bringing everyone up-to-date. It will interesting to see if I agree with the critics who have already seen the first three episodes.

I think the cast and writers were surprised to discover that there is still a demand for more X-File episodes!

Drat! is a good way to describe it. I had also forgotten that the stories are always left open-ended on the X-files. Very frustrating.

That's OK. That's why we have so many different types of television shows ... there is something for everyone.

My sister was a big fan and often would tell me about the latest show. I never really got into the series. I may be interested now if I can find it.

It will start this Sunday night and will be on the Fox Network. That is channel 11 in many parts of the country.

I think they will be fun to watch. I didn't watch all of the old X-files, but I did enjoy the ones I saw. Now I will be able to DVR the new ones until I have a chance to see them!
