About this thing called WINTER

Cold and blue sky

Winter is a season everyone has, even if they live where it is warm. However, not being fans of cold weather, we are jealous of those living in warmer climates. Some think they would love to see snow because they have not experienced the hardships of a cold winter. Winter weather anywhere that includes snow, ice storms, power interruptions and such is not appreciated by my family members. Yes, it is time to move to a warmer place. It is beautiful where we are, but the cold is something we have never enjoyed. Are you enjoying winter?

When we moved to TN (from New Jersey) we had very mild winters for several years. Then, something happened and we have had very cold stretches of winter...like now it's 12 degrees. We are as far south as I care to be since I don't want to live where hurricanes happen!

@AbbyGreenhill no, no take it back please! My family visited for Christmas this year, they complained about how warm it was, when they left, it turned really cold. I called them and said, come back, here is your cold weather to take back home with ya that you requested.

Snow, ice, huricanes, tornadoes, blizzards are all part of the reason I don't move. We get none of those. But we do get sand storms that can suck the moisture out of anything.

I've been in some of those sand storms! A person can't really understand how bad they are unless they have been through one!

I've lived here since 1959 @AbbyGreenhill and the only tornado that I've ever heard of was long ago in the area now known as Horizon City but it was more like a sand twister, mostly harmless but that sand does get into the eyes, ears and nose, pretty irritating.

I am the same way, every time I hear my kids say oh gee wish it would snow, my head yells "Noooooo!" but I am able to keep my mouth closed just for them.

No I do not like the cold and snow of winter. We are moving to a warmer state after our house sales.

Us too! Warm weather states are preferred even by those not ready to retire.

. . This reminds me of my cousin from the Philippines who visited us here in Calgary for a month during winter. He was so excited to see snow . . . but wanted to go back to the Philippines when the temperature went down to minus 25.

It is supposed to be summer here but a town not too far from us has had massive rains and subsequent flooding. It is not at all what people were expecting.

I am enjoying winter. I have joined a walking group and we walk out in all weather. It is brisk and invigorating. The other day chickadees were eating out of our hands! I am looking forward to skating xcountry skating and downhill skiing! On Saturday I am going sledding with a bunch of other adults. Haven't done that in years.

To put it bluntly, I hate winter! I do like to watch a pretty snow and maybe enjoy a day or two of it, but after that I an ready for warm weather again! I hate to be "cooped up" inside and I am not a fan of being outside when it is cold! I miss working in my gardens and going for nature walks!

I do like snow - as long as I can see it through the windows of a warm house and don't have to get out in it.
