Why we are here remains an enigma, mystery; even the whole creative process is likewise and keeps us enthralled. When we feel bored, out of sorts, just ponder - who are we and that sets our mind on a wild goose chase! Life as we know it pales into insignificance when compared to what we know not! We are given an awareness to think, ponder, and wonder at what it is all about. Our Creator has given us daily challenges. I feel the topmost among them is to stay alive; we have to eat and drink many times a day and that keeps us occupied – think if that is not included in our daily agenda! We have come far – most need not worry about personal safety as systems are in place to take care of that. But we are not different from time immemorial, unable to shake off those that pin us down. Despite advances in science and technology, we have carried forward baggage that brings our downfall. In fact, we have been overwhelmed with issues like intolerance, greed, hatred, vengefulness, etc. These have gotten into our system and we are unable to flush them out. My wish is for each generation not to repeat the mistakes of the past. Our scientific progress is gaining in speed. We are connecting the dots to unravel the mystery of creation. We have eureka moments to leapfrog over what looked like insurmountable issues. Like in personal life, we have no time to savor the moments as we create new issues with a vengeance; our tails are on fire, though of our making! But soon we have inklings that our time is inching closer. Though we may have some regrets, most will take them as par for the course. We react to circumstances which are not in our control. I like to take stock of my time here and express gratitude for the time given – I got much more than I bargained for when I was young. It has been a great and fulfilling ride and the challenges kept me alive, on my toes. I have seen few of my acquaintances leaving in different ways and I start to wonder who will bid me goodbye, hold my hands; and is there any significance to the final moment?

Life is indeed so different from when I was young - so many technological advances. However I've always believed in 'Carpe Diem' and I've enjoyed my life, and hopefully learned a few things on the way.

Yes, lifestyle is changing faster and behavior patterns too. Change is the only constant is my credo and so no point in looking back than for learning lessons along the way. However, I do find solace when I recall some moments from the past and also feel grateful for the modern conveniences. I too live day by day as that gives me comfort - siva

I think most people would wonder about how our lives will end. You wouldn't be human if you didn't give some thought to it.

@Shiva49 I too have had a similar experience but I think there is just so much more to it all than we will ever know or understand here on earth.

@whiteream Sometimes we cannot explain in words what we went through. And as you said, when we are in another energy form we have different realizations and realty and may not be able to connect with life as we know here, but then we have to leave that to our Creator as He should know what He is doing! He will pluck us out of thin air and fit us in the right slot as He did here! siva

That is the ultimate mystery ride too - to know what is on the other side; as far as I know nobody has come back to tell the tale! siva

Yes, the world is imploring us to change as it is the only constant in the creative process. We should embrace change but at the same time hold on to those that serves us well - siva

I think in at least one hospital here, there is a group of volunteers who attend to the dying in their last moment. They will hold their hands so that the dying person does not die alone. It is a kind act.

Yes, that is indeed a kind and touching act and I bow my head to the volunteers - they sort of put their money where their mouth is to show their sincerity - siva

Modern lifestyles take us away from the core of our being as humans. We should allot time to reflect on those that are close to our heart, but often overlooked - siva

It seems like life and the world keep going faster and and faster. I wonder if anyone still stops to smell the roses. I believe we are all here for a reason. It's our job to figure out what that reason is. To help make the world a better place in the time that we are giving. Yes, I have seen many pass over the few years and I do wonder what those last few moments of life are like for them.

Well, if we are all here for a reason, this would give a reason for everything happening for a reason too, I suppose. I wonder whose reason it is though, God's, our soul's, or some type of collective oneness's reason, that wants all things to support it, and to work together for its sake, so as the best progress can be made, which I guess would be its ultimate reason for anything.

Yes Brendamarie. even the older generation, like me, are running to stay where we are! We should pause and ponder than chase after material wealth beyond our needs. Gandhi said - "there is everything here to meet our needs, but not the greed". So when we limit our wants, we have time to spare to help those in need and that opens our eyes to the world around us. I have heard that those in their last days are hardly bothered about their wealth or status, but want to just leave in peace. As we inch closer to that moment, let us also not get carried away that this life is forever - my point is to be a better human being and how to be one - we all know! siva

@innertalks Yes Steve, I feel the reason is to fill the gaps in the creative process for us to chip in wherever our roles fit. Some play positive roles but few are cut out for negative ones like in a drama - some are heroes, while villains complete the plot, keep us on the edge of the seat, like in James Bond films! Indian films are full of handsome heroes pummeling "ugly" villains to pulp! But then we allow villains to rule us in the real world! siva

Perhaps our planets future is in our own hands in many ways, as well as in Gods
Our planet, our life, what happens to us all is largely in our own hands, I feel. The future is not a foregone conclusion. We have a hand in making it, even as we have a hand in all else too. This will happen though only if we all hold hands in peace, perhaps all holding God with one hand, and another person in the other. When we are holding God's hand in love, with love, how could we be at war with each other then? We have come far, but still have far to go. Some people, like Astrologers, might think that they know a lot of the answers. I heard some interesting news on the TV last night, that a replacement ninth planet for Pluto has been found now. It is large enough to be named a planet, of which apparently Pluto was not. It is just a large rock, having lost its tag as being a planet in 2006. I wonder if these Astrologers will have to readjust any of their calculations now....LOL

@Shiva49 To put it all into perspective though, the Universe itself is largely infinite it seems, with millions of other planets on it with life on them too probably. If we do mess up here and destroy our little planet, as well as ourselves, the Universe will just dust itself off and keep going largely unaffected by it all, I guess. God might be affected though, and step in before it gets to that, if we have gone too far, and if he still wants us around, and so he might just give us another chance, who knows.

@innertalks There is an inner yearning that we need another chance but I feel God may well decide based on why we didn't heed our inner voice that he had implanted. So, maybe, we can still continue in another energy form as there should be many that we are not aware of. It should serve us well if we do do our best and leave the rest - and we can certainly do so at individual level - siva

I agree Steve, it is mostly in our hands. We are already given a long innings with nature being kind to us all along. I think God has given us enough of hand holding, apart form the inputs He still gives us from time to time - be it through inner voice, intuition, dreams, eureka events etc I don't know whether He sees it necessary to bail us out again as if we are indispensable to the whole process. So we have to wise up or we will self-destruct.. We cannot have it both ways; decide and live as we please and then leave the bill for creation to sweep it back to pristine condition. The duality effect n our scientific progress brings into sharp focus either we swim or sink together. We have made mistakes all along, but they are becoming costlier by the day. So the writing on the wall is crystal clear. The creative process need not make an exception in our case that we need to be treated as the "chosen one". I feel the whole of creation is so dynamic that we cannot understand its working or predict our future except that it would nourish us going by the past history. Again, what we know is nothing compared to the mysteries yet to be unraveled. Whatever laws of physics we have understood yet may be only scratching the surface of the reality and workings of the universe, cosmos - siva
