How Did You First Discover This Site?

Through a discussion on another thread I was having with @JudyEv in Australia, it made me think about how people all over the world first came across this site, and I wondered how people first heard of myLot.
I have been on this site for a few months now, and I migrated over here from the former BB site a few weeks before it shut down. I had first heard about this site from other BB members who had mentioned it in their comments and posts. Prior to that, I was a member of BB for a couple of years. I first heard about that site from reading an article in either Money magazine or Forbes magazine. They did a story on various ways to earn money online.
So, how did you first hear about this site, and what prompted to you to check it out and join?

@JolietJake I was at B when we made big money - I was cashing out $50 a day every day. Who needed pennies when you could make dollars....I don't remember anyone every talking about this site. I put in as much time there as I do here now.

@JolietJake I wonder that more of the original members don't seem to have come back. I'll bet that about three-quarter of the present members are ex-bubblers - would you agree with that?

@JolietJake I was writing in Infobarrel and people started talking about BB and the money they were earning (this is when BB was paying good money) so I migrated from Infobarrel to BB.

I just found this site few minutes ago,by searching "how to find people to chat". ^^
after the old icq chat was shut down few days ago,every chatsite became less interesting cuz people could not hold a topic .im looking forward to enjoying fun on here.

I heard about it from another Bubblews member. A couple of weeks after I joined ( I wasn't ver active yet because of limited internet access) my brother suggested I might be interested in Mylot.

I learned about it from a Bubblews friend. I missed writing and interacting so I joined just last Sunday.

I am pretty sure I first heard about this site at Bubblews. Then I heard about it again at Persona Paper. It was the second time I heard about it, I thought I would try it here.

@moffittjc Yes, all of the writing sites it seems do fail. One thing that is good about this site is that it had a slump where it could not pay the writers, but it stayed online and didn't close down and then when it was able to pay again, it was able to because it had not shut down. I wish Persona Paper would not shut it's doors completely. I wish it and others could have found a way to eventually bounce back.

@LeaPea2417 Do we see an inevitable pattern here? Are all paid writing sites doomed to fail? It seems none of them are sustainable. I know this site has been around a long time, but it hasn't been without it's issues also. Everything seems fine now, so I hope it keeps staying that way!

Since I left Bubbs long ago the last place I wrote was Persona Paper and if my memory still functions (which is questionable) that's where I heard about myLot - that was mid-August.

@AbbyGreenhill How long were you on Persona Paper. I just heard about that recently and looked at it. It seems similar to BB but I didn't get into any details. This is enough for me. Did you make good money over there?

I didn't hear about myLot. I stumbled across it while looking for some place to bring my friends when Bubbs started having major problems. I had searched for about a year before I came across myLot and decided to give it a shot.
I had some initial problems here but still told several of my friends from Bubbs that we might be able to make myLot into a new home for all of us. Little did I know that some of my friends were already members of this site! LOL! It was funny when I started hearing they already had accounts here as they were members under the old myLot!
Many of my friends that did follow me here are still here. A few didn't like the site and moved elsewhere. I did make sure I had their email addresses so I could keep in touch with them, no matter where they went!

I think this site was just a different experience for many of the old BB users. I know when I first found this site, I wasn't too excited about it, but in fairness I decided to give it a try. For about a month, I was writing on BB and on this site, and came to appreciate the differences between the two sites. I'm glad I stuck it out on this site, because once I became familiar with it, I actually loved it!

@moffittjc It is easer to write on here and the chatting back and forth with the other people is so much fun. It seems to go faster and we can chat back and forth to so many people at once.

Me too...I was on Bubblews for a few years (my daughters were there, making money and having fun) and then my wonderful friends/connections there prompted me to come here when the B site started going downhill. I'm certainly glad I listened cause I love being here and being able to interact with all my previous friends as well as some great new ones.

A friend of mine from another site told me about this site back in late September. We're both members of Hub Pages. I was recently on another site that didn't work out so well, since I knew my time was up. I won't go into details about that site in question. I love this site.

In general, how did you first get started with paid writing sites? How did you find out they existed? I would have never known had I not read an article about them in a magazine!

@KristenH I guess many people who are active participants in blogs, chatrooms, and other online forums would find out about sites like this through online word-of-mouth. Never thought about that, as I don't really have time to participate in other online community forums.

Judy, how did you first find out about BB? I read about it in a magazine. Had I not picked up that particular issue, I may have never found out about BB!

I discovered this site a long time ago in 2010 after I got married to my husband. I was staying home and felt bad I wasn't being in any money so I did a search online on how to make free money online and this site was on the search engines page. I checked it out, tried and made money for two years it was what I made to help my family especially when I was pregnant.

@moffittjc not just a little we where living in my husband's grandparents house because we just moved to a new state and had no jobs. My husband had been working a few months when we got married and pregnant with our first. We have been slowly getting more and more money in. We started dirt broke many times with no food but have made it to know where we have three kids. Still don't have a lot of money but we make things work and the kids don't care.

Was looking for ways to earn money online when i came upon an article which mentioned this site. I am not a great writer so article writing was out of question. Chatting and earning at the same time seemed great. So joined this site. This is my first post.

The failure of BB must have brought this site some good business! I also just heard that Persona Paper is shutting down as well, so probably a lot of those members will gravitate over here as well.
