Have you ever gone ghost hunting?

Whether you were a child or an adult. Whether you believe in them or not, have you ever tried to capture the supernatural? I'm going to regret talking about this because it is 4:40am here and still dark haha I can get scared pretty easily. But I was thinking about the time my mum and I went to this cemetery. I wanted to go because I wanted to take photos and record to see if I could capture anything. It was a phase I guess but I was also going through some stuff that made ghost hunting an interest to me. I was around 14 - 15 years old at this time when we went. But I remember we were there in the evening. The sun hadn't fully gone down yet. I just walked around taking photos and recorded certain areas. When mum and I went home, we went through the photos and there was one particular photo that gave me chills. This photo had like a weird figure of smoke. I know that sounds like.....nothing but to me it means something. The way this mysterious smoke was just hovering there in a somewhat human shape and I swear on anything that there was no fog, or smoke nor was my mum smoking at the time and even if she was, a cigarette wouldn't give out that much smoke. I sent all the photos to myself and annoyingly enough, when I tried to open them all up, that smoky one was the only one that didn't want to open so many years have gone by and I've never been able to look at it again which is even more annoying because I can't prove it. Only my mum and I knew about it. I remember being in high school, my friends and I tried to see Bloody Mary lol that was scary but fun. Have you done anything as a child or as an adult to try and capture the unknown?

I have been on several ghost hunts and ghost tours before, but have never experienced anything. One of the coolest things I've ever done was getting the chance to do a private overnight ghost hunt of the St. Augustine, Florida lighthouse and grounds with two of the stars of the television show "Ghost Hunters." Although it was fun, and even spooky at times, we didn't experience anything paranormal. I am one of those people who is neither a believer nor disbeliever. Too many people in this world have experienced enough strange things for me to accept that this could very well be a real thing. So with that in mind, I tend to lean toward believer more than non-believer.

@VivaLaDani13 Putting a little more thought into this subject, I guess I consider myself a believer, simply for the fact that if I wasn't, I wouldn't waste my time or money going on various ghost hunts! The building I work in is reportedly haunted, and a couple of us at the office have always talked about staying overnight in the building to see if there is any activity. We also have a very old and creepy cemetery just outside of our city that I would love to spend a night in as well.

@moffittjc You guys don't have to stay there in the office to witness it. Setting up some good quality cameras will do just fine to record if there is any activity going on there. What stories have you heard to make you guys think that it is haunted? A cemetery would by very scary. I wouldn't be able to do that unless someone else or a small group was with me.

That is fair enough. I personally believe in it for my own reasons and I think it is fine for others if they don't. It all comes down to that "seeing is believing" thing you know. I do like ghost tours. I went on one with my mum and dad when I was about 11 or maybe younger. I don't really remember much about it though. But there is a tour you can do here called the Fremantle Prison Tour. It's an old prison and they mainly talk about the prisoners who went there and what they did but they also show us the rope where prisoners got hung. I've been there 3 times in total but two of them at night. Took photos and each and every time you look back on the photos, you see so many orbs. Just creepy.

I've never done any ghost hunting. I have thought of it though. It's something that I would like to do, but I'm not sure I could do it on my own. I may just try it some day.

@VivaLaDani13 trust me, I wouldn't do it alone either. I can sometimes get spooked easily. And like you said, it's just safer to do it with someone. But if I find someone to do it with, then I'll try.

@dodo19 I'd go with you if I could lol No one I know here wants to go. They are TOO scared. I mean, I am a little scared but not enough to not go.

I personally wouldn't do it on my own lol Only because it can be scary and I don't mean to sound paranoid, but sometimes it just isn't the best idea to do it in general. Can open up a lot of unwanted doors in your life.

Your you in the UK, just going with the time 4:40am. Once a friend when on a ghost walk and said to have took some photos but non turned out right. About 4 years ago I went on a ghost walk in York. I had my camera with me and planned on taking some photos. Me met many people going on the walk and went into the marketplace. The guy doing the ghost was telling us about the ghost which would be seen in the marketplace. I tried to take some photos and my camera would not work, it never failed me before and not since. it really strange.

Me wonders why ghosts would be scared of being photographed. There are no laws against them, and supposedly, they can do more harm to us than we can to them.

@VivaLaDani13 Yes very odd. I know when it happened to me and my camera wouldn't take the photo I was worried that there was something wrong with my camera but since then it's been ok.

I have heard stories of that happening before actually or even people trying to record a video with their phones but all static was going through it and they also said that that's never happened before. Very odd.

Is it ok to tell me more about this white lady story? Or is it hard to talk about?

@VivaLaDani13 We were just kids then . We were at the school where i studied kindergarten and was playing with my playmates whose house is just near this school . We saw the white lady staring at us on the open window of the Home Economics house when it was before that so closed . She has no face , just all white . We run home and told our parents and when we went back , it was closed already . But we are so sure that she is a white lady . I can never forget that incident ever .

@SIMPLYD That is very eerie. See, I know sometimes kids can have a great imagination but when a group of kids see the exact same thing then it sounds like it really could have been what you saw was real.

I don't believe in ghosts, but I do love both the Ghostbusters movies. I do actually get concerned when they cross the beams and worry about what might happen. And I would be the one who would think of a giant marshmallow man. In fact I think of him more than is good for me.

@VivaLaDani13 I think that's why DA thought of him, but he went on a rampage, didn't he? It also reminds me of Terrahawks, where Zelda described a teddy bear as "The Ugliest Monster of All" haha

@Orson_Kart I believe so. I've not seen those movies in a very long time but for some reason I have been craving to watch them lately. Will have to buy them or something.

I have never had any belief in either ghosts or the occult. Of course if ghosts did exist there would be no point in hunting them because they would easily slip through a net.

I did that as a teenager ... and it was on a clear day at the cemetery ... cleaning off graves ... I was helping an elderly lady. I took photos ... later to see 'smoky' images, and orbs. With the strange things that have happened in my life ... and for me ... to know is true ... I know there is 'something' ... call it supernatural ... whatever. It's there. This is because I'm a person to not believe something unless ... I see it. I believe you ... I've seen other instances where photos are taken ... same thing.

@VivaLaDani13 There are things we don't understand in this world. I'm old enough, have experienced a lot of unusual, strange things in my life. I am also, a miracle ... so, is my husband. So, yes ... I do believe.

@GrannyGee Your comment has intrigued me. Do you mind if I could ask you to elaborate with you and your husband being a miracle? Or even, the unusual things you have experienced?

Sort of. We took the kids out to the cemetery one night. I had to keep replacing the batteries in my camera. Every pic with my daughter was full of orbs. We also picked up some really odd sounds on our voice recorder. Eerie stuff but ghosts (spirits) don't bother me.

@VivaLaDani13 We heard some odd breathing on the recorder when we were no where near it. We had left the recorder on a headstone while we walked to the other side of cemetery. No one else was there.

Sounds creepy...! I havent done anything like it yet but something that comes to my mind right now is the imaginary friend of my little cousin. Maybe I will write about it on future. He talks and plays with his imaginary friend! Everybody says its common among children at this age. But sometimes when he talks alone, it sounds scary, whoooo...! Btw do you stilk have those photos with you?
