The threat of a blast from the past.

With Londoners already on the alert for attacks from terrorists it seemed like someone was putting the proverbial last straw on the camel's back when travelers at Victoria Station were faced with the prospect of a bomb exploding. A bomb that had been dropped during WW2 and remained unexploded for seventy odd years! It was found on a nearby bomb site during the rush hour which sent 'hordes' of commuters desperately trying to remove themselves from the danger. Reminiscent perhaps of the 'hordes' reputedly descending on the UK from similar dangers from more modern explosive devices. It seems that the desires of evil people to kill and maim the innocent can survive and threaten us generations later.

I would have thought that if it had been there for seventy years that it was unlikely to go off now.

they're unlikely to go off but the tnt inside destabilises with age so they're still very risky especially if they get a big knock from heavy machinery.

That's scary, we have our own problems here though. It's just scary knowing how dangerous it is just to live in the world.

My goodness, if it can happen in London, it can happen everywhere else. I think many countries have undiscovered old bombs still hidden in the ground. I just hope that the construction workers will take care not to trigger an explosion from old bombs.

I wonder how many of these unexploded bombs are still around. They turn up from time to time it seems.

I expect there's still hundreds of unexploded bombs under london that only get discovered when they knock building down or do other construction work.
