Sucky Lollies

United Kingdom
February 8, 2016 1:10pm CST
OK, now I am addicted to those swizzel lickable lollies. I try to limit myself to one as a treat to myself after a long hard day at work, and after my tea of course. Trouble is, they are so tasty and I don't lick them, I suck them, and often too hard. So hard that my lips and tongue start to shrivel and often I get small ulcers. They are also almost pure sugar, so no good for me at all, but boy do they taste good, and I often have 3 or 4 before I say to myself -"Stop, you're having a laugh mate! Keep on like this and both your teeth will drop out" So I do stop, but it's a struggle. Do you like sucky lollies, and can you limited yourself better than me?

I can resist them, but chocolate is my downfall.

I like chocolate too, but I have no trouble with that. Easter is coming up and I am eagerly awaiting the annual Tesco deal on the eggs. Nom nom nom

I must have only one extra super duper tasting lolly, so yes I can limit myself dear Orson. Mind those teeth now.

So you can't suck for long? Me neither. I'm a sucker for sucky lollies, but I run out of suck after about 10 mins. It sucks, it really sucks.

I have resisted them for many years now. I found better things to xuck, less harmful to my teeth too.

I haven't had any junk food in 27 days now. I just realized that today 15 years ago my late husband and I started dating. Time flies. I try to avoid sugar now as I am having a lot of issues with it. I finally stopped craving it after 25 days. I am so happy the cravings are gone! I know the lollipops that are in the photo you shared. I do not care for them though. They are too sweet for me. My kids can't have them as I don't allow them to have red dye it effects their behavior terribly.

@Orson_Kart Unless they are organic the pink in them is probably dye they added. I prefer when they use beet juice to make things red or other natural things.

You do well to avoid them. They are pure sugar and not good for ones health. I am sure there is no artificial colours in the lollies, so it's not all bad. A bit like me really!

I have never tried the sucky lollies. Should I try them or do I risk to become addicted?

One suck and you will be hooked, I am. They are full of sugar, so avoid at all cost. On the plus side, they are cheap.

I am not certain we have those lollies here @Orson_Kart , but my addiction is chocolate, and toffees and caramel and fudge...and now I will have to go look for a snack, drat! And No, I don't limit myself to one of any of those. Dang my sweet tooth...we're both in sugary trouble, it seems

Yes, sugar is now deemed enemy number one and I am afraid I too am losing the battle. I've managed to abandon the sucky lollies but turned my attention to chocolate. I love it. They are now producing low sugar versions of my favourites, but it doesn't taste as nice. I don't stick to the recommended quantity per day either. I need more.

@Orson_Kart yes, low sugar is no fun . I am afraid it is full cream, full sugar or bust with me.

I don't eat them because I'm hypoglycemic and too much sugar isn't good for me. Be careful with those! lol

Lollypops are not my favorites. maybe one a year for me is enough. Now, if we were talking chocolate, that would be a totally different story.

That isn't too nice for your well being, have you considered softer sweets? I don't have this problem because I prefer soft chewy candies.

I can't as I am addicted to them. I don't have many vices, but this is one of them. I am doomed.
