My Grand-dog Furbaby - Sandi

Here is a photo of out daughter's dog, sitting next to our sofa, by my husband's feet. We usually dog-sit for her two or three weeks a year, plus occasional weekends.
We adore Sandi, as well as Dash, our daughter's parakeet that we also take care of when she is on a trip. Since she is a teacher, she often takes her children on trips when they have time off.
I have loved the photo of everyone's furbabies, so I thought I would share mine, too!

@BelleStarr - Like grandchildren, grand-dogs also know when they are being spoiled ... and they love it!

I love our fur grandbabies, too. I keep dog and bird treats on-hand for anytime they are around ... and they know it!

We love dog-sitting for her. We always feel a little sad when we return her pets to her.

It is nice when you have a well trained animal to care for as they are so loving. I bet you do feel sad when the pets go home.

@DeborahDiane I love dogs like that, who are well behaved. I have to really work on Daisy to be that way but everything is a game to her right now.

@simone10 - Yes, it can be a slow process to train a dog ... but well worth it.

The dog is a Belgium Shepherd mix. She is very well-behaved ... rarely barks or creates a problem.

Dogsitting sounds like fun. But you can't take them to the movies or out to lunch. Bummer.

Ha Ha! You are so right! Now, if we lived in France, we would be able to take a dog to lunch ... but not to the movies. We used to see far more dogs in the sidewalk cafes than we did children! LOL

@ElizabethWallace - Honestly, we rarely saw children in public places in either Germany or France. Manners seem to be stressed more in Europe than in the U.S. When our youngest daughter went to high school for a year in Switzerland, she had to learn a lot of rules, and we were very pleased with the results.

@DeborahDiane They were probably better behaved, or would have been if you were in Germany. I found small children in France behaved like angels, but in Germany, they often were allowed to walk around on their own in restaurants (and were not always little angels).

What a cutie, I don't have pets never did. My son has a cute dog, and both my sisters have dogs.

It sounds like you enjoy dogs, even if you don't have one. We don't own one right now, either.

@fishtiger58 - We are the same way. We had dogs for 35 straight years. However, the last few years we have not had one. Now that we are older, we don't want to start another 15 year commitment to a pet.

Sandi is an easy dog to care for ... and so is the bird.

She is actually very good about that. I have never seen her get on the sofa. However, she likes treats and she LOVES to have her ears scratched.

When we had a dog, it would have been great to have someone to leave him with. I could not leave him in a kennel and my daughter could not have dogs in her apartment, but she lives 100 miles north anyway.

Our daughter does not like to put her dog in a kennel, either, unless absolutely necessary. Since we love to take care of her pets, it works out well for both of us.

Awww, how precious. It's funny, but my fur babies belong to our sons and are not mine, either. We get one cat for 8 months and love him as if he was our own. The best is when my younger son goes on vacation and we get both his cats. Unfortunately, now that we have one cat, we can no longer babysit our older son's two dogs when he and his wife travel. We love them, too.

Yes, pet-sitting for our daughter is perfect for us. We can enjoy the pets when we want ... and we are not obligated to take care of one all the time.
