The cat ate my eyeglasses...

OK, not mine. I came home from the gym last night, and Cary came out of his room and told me the cat ate his glasses. Huh? When Luna was little, she bit my lenses, and left a few little teeth marks, but Cary's glasses were destroyed. The lens and nose piece were off on one side, the frame was all bent, and the lens on one side was all scratched up. We are overdue on eye exams, so I made appointments today. Naturally nobody can see him for at least a week, so I took him into Costco to see if they could repair them enough so that he can function for a couple of weeks. Fortunately, he's not all that blind. Unfortunately, they had to take the other nosepiece off, and they just aren't comfortable. But he can wear them when he really needs to. The cat really did do it.

I have never heard of a cat doing such a thing. Glad they managed to fix them at least a little.

Only a little though, but hopefully they'll last him until we can get replacements.

Some plastics have a smell that really is appealing to cats, perhaps that is what happened to his glasses. I have seen it with bags, and with rubber backed bath rugs among other things.

Could be. I've had other cats get obsessive about chewing on plastic bags.

Cat is funny. Maybe he/she is just bored and since the eyeglasses caught his attention, then perhaps it has done him some entertaining. :) I hope the glasses are fixed. It is hard to go out when you realize you have the need to use them.

There are just something about the curiosity of a cat. They will go for weird smells. Sorry that happened.

Wow, I have heard of dogs biting and chewing furniture and stuff, but never a cat! I wonder what makes her so chewy like that.

No idea, but he now knows not to leave them anywhere where the cat can get them.

What a pain. In the hardware stores here we can buy glasses that just magnify by varying amounts. They are quite useful in an emergency - such as when a cat eats your glasses!
