Peace in a picture

A week ago Monday, my hiking buddy Michael and I went to Marin County to do a familiar loop in the hills by the ocean. I only took one picture, and my intent was to capture the peace I feel when hiking there. Mt. Diablo, my usual haunt, is beautiful in its own way, but it's a bit more rugged and doesn't have the beautiful redwood and other tall conifers that are found near the ocean in Marin. Do you have a photograph that just says "peace" to you?

@vandana7 Yes, I will just sit next to a stream. That guitar picture I use over and over comes from next to a river in Montana where I stop and play every Summer.

@TheHorse It's nice to be able to see a place like that in person. Me, I'll have to go to a province just to enjoy that sight. So thanks for the picture. It's a really relaxing one.

This is a beautiful photo, it reminds me of a provincial park in our area that we love to visit. There is a special kind of silence when you are in a wooded area where the sunlight can not reach the ground due to the tree cover isn't there? This picture really captures that.

@TheHorse Yeah that, and the smell, the mossy smell because there is so much moss because the ground never gets sunlight.

I love the way everything turns kind of orange in the ebbing evening light.

@Jessicalynnt Well snap. And I have miles to go before I sleep. Have to enter three progress notes.

Great photo. I have a lot of trail pics I took while mountain biking or hiking. I should take a look and see if any are as peaceful as this.

My cycling trails are mostly through suburban areas. I can edit them to make them look like "nature shots," but I'm fudging.

@TheHorse - I have a few cool urban ride photos of my bike that I took over the summer. Maybe I should post those for the heck of it.

Yours reminds me of the following lines "The woods are lovely dark and deep. But I have promises to keep And miles to go before I sleep" Words by Robert Frost And here is mine - Watching those poor kids that I had invited to a christmas party at a beach resort, . enjoyig the sea gave me immense peace

@TheHorse I have some fear of being stuck in the woods but that wont happen ever for me since I dislike camping.

It was about 69 degrees out and mostly sunny. Perfect hiking weather. There was a light wind that made a beautiful sound in the trees.

You are right, pony... That is very beautiful... and very different from the picture you showed us in the locked gate thread. I like both, actually... Yeah, but not that is on my pc. My daughter and I were hiking in the Rocky Mountains at Hoosier Pass when we came across a beautiful vista. I immediately snapped a shot of it. A little later we set up my camera to take a timed picture of the two of us in the pass... Both pictures show the fantastic scenery around us... I think Pretty was around nine or ten years old at the time.

@TheHorse Yes, she remembers it. She kept trying to climb down to a little trickle coming out of the mountainside and I kept making her climb back up to me... I finally turned my back long enough for her to make it to the trickle and then had to climb down and get her because she couldn't reach the first (lowest) handhold.

That's exactly what I did. My friend likes to go fast. I like to stop and just be for a few minutes. I asked him to let me take the picture before he trekked on ahead of me. I sat for a minute or two.
