Tax time can be stressfull, but this is ridiculous

Yesterday I read a post by @moffittjc titled "Just completed my income tax return." That reminded me that my main task for this morning was to find the Turbotax disc that we had bought at Costco a few weeks ago. Neither of us had a clue where it had been stashed.
Anne was of the opinion that we talked about buying it and didn't. I was pretty sure we did, but stopped at Costco and they were able to quickly confirm that we did. Anne looked all over her studio/office room yesterday to no avail. I could pretty much remember actually putting it "somewhere safe." Now, I have to admit that my desk is a mess. I am a cluttered sort of guy. But, I moved all the piles of paper, even cleaned the desk and found no Turbotax.
Just about the time I was resigned to having to go buy another one though, Anne came up with it. I had put it on her desk, she had put into a box of writing materials and moved the box.
As the Bard wrote, "All's well that ends well." I even have a clean desk now...but wait, was I tricked into cleaning with the old "where oh where is the Turbo tax disc ploy?" Would Anne do that? Well, maybe so, but at least we can do the taxes now.
Have you started yours or filed them already?

I have all the paperwork on my dining room table, along with a calculator, pad and pen. I will get everything organized and then go see the tax accountant. I would not do them myself. Too important for an amateur.

Turbotax seems to work quite well for us. It has great prompts to nudge you along.

@JamesHxstatic My sister uses that. She likes it. But such things make me a little nuts. I think there is too much to know.

We have one, small foreign investment that complicates our life. We have to have a specialist do our taxes and the K1 form for the investment hasn't arrived yet. A call to the company indicated that we should have it by the end of March ... they hope. Our tax accountant has all the other info she will need to prepare our taxes, but we have to wait for that one form. Frustrating, but I guess it teaches us patience!

I had one of those little foreign things and finally got rid of it.

All those things that get tucked into a 'safe place' that we spend hours searching for.

LOL to Anne's (possible) ploy. She just wanted you to sit down to focus on doing your taxes proper. My taxes are easy to file here because I work in the public sector.

Love that she may have ployed you into cleaning that desk off!
We have filed ours. There was a free tax prep, sponsored by the local AARP in our town. I took advantage of that seeing how it would have cost us $60 to have them done by our tax preparer this year. Free is good.

No, but I do have an appointment with our accountant for April 7th once we are back home. My records are pretty well organized.

Glad you were able to find your Turbo tax disc. My taxes just came back from my accountant so I'm basically all done and can relax until next year.

Hahaha, I think Anne pulled a fast one on you! Women do things like that to us men (and I say that with full love and respect for the women in our lives). Where would we be without them? Now get your taxes done before she starts nagging you about it! lol

That is truly a pain in the nether regions of life. I hope we have all the 1099s on hand from some acting things I got paid for. I had not thought of that.

I'm fortunate that I don't have to do one anymore @JamesHxstatic . I only made $14,064 in SS, so I don't have to file.

@JamesHxstatic Although I sure would be willing to fill one out if I made more. I can't deduct anything that has to do with the house or land; which sucks.

Maybe the majority of us here have cluttered desks. I seem able to find more on a cluttered desk than I can when I put things away into files and such. I wonder why that is? Even then, my goal is to have a cleaner desk than normal, but I'm not sure if that goal is reachable or not. Everytime I clean off a portion, I seem to find other things to look through and there i go again.
I finalized my taxes with my accountant this past Monday. I'm praying that I get mine back this Friday, in two days, otherwise it will be another week or so.
I hate it when I buy something needed and then when I'm ready to use it, it can't be found anywhere. Recently that happened with some pretzels I bought for my breaks at work. Come to find out my husband confiscated them as I hadn't bought him his own snacks too. Course, he keeps his in his room and I never know when they're gone.

Mine is pretty much like that
