Do you write deep or drivel?

Do you write deep or drivel? What I mean is, do you only write deep emotional pieces here? Or do you only write day to day minutia (definition: the small, precise, or trivial details of something)? Or do you write both? Which ones do you read? Only one type? Both?
I find myself writing both. I like to write about the simple things, dinner, life, etc. I also like to write pieces that make you think. Oh, and poems. Cannot forget I keep the weekly poem challenge going as well. I think that one ranges in the middle between deep and minutia of life.
Which type of piece does better? I have seen that question hashed about more than once, and I am sure it will be again. Oh, what do I think? I think it depends. It depends on the day, time, the mood of the readers whenever they see it. A well written piece, in my opinion is still a well written piece, no matter if it is about your morning hunt for socks, or for the meaning of life. Are all pieces on here well written? No. Are some pieces that aren’t still interesting? Yes. Plus not everyone speaks English as their first language, or has the typing mastery that others may have.

It might, we also see many people on here as friends, I know I do, and think of what you do when you talk to a friend. you might get deep now and then, but most talk is about the minutia.

@Jessicalynnt I was referring exactly to the sermons posts, where people cite the Bible. If I want to hear a sermon I go to Church. I also tend to skip political posts, because I know nothing about politic, not even the politic events that concern my country.

@LadyDuck if it was a single verse and then stuff like, a story, or personal thoughts I'd be ok, but yeah the other I just skip.

I can handle a religious post if it's like someone's personal experience. I dont like the ones that are sermons, or bible studies or the like. I dont care if people write those, I just don't read them. I will be honest, I tend to skip sports and most policital ones too.

hahaha, I love it! There once was this movie about a samurai, who went around saying things that sounded super deep. Halfway through the movie, as we pondered those deep sounding days, me and my college friends, we realized...everything he said was dumb, just made to sound deep. Was pretty amusing. What you said reminded me of this, making drivel super deep! lol

I'm more apt to write daily stuff that is going on and don't write too much deep stuff.

I think either more people do, OR that's what I like to read because my feed is like that. Still it's like sitting down to tea and chatting about our days, I enjoy that.

@Jessicalynnt me too...I'm drawn to reading about what people are doing, reading, cooking, watching on tv and finding a place to share their woes if life takes a bad turn. It's a great place to chat as you say and find a camaraderie here

I enjoy writing a lengthier post. However, there are times when my mind won't allow me to utter but a few words. Reading discussions that are longer tend to have things that we can think about and use what the brain is made for...thinking. I do read some short posts, but can only do the eye roll. Hopefully I don't roll them too hard.

@Jessicalynnt,I prefer to write posts that have a message for everyone. But you don't always have such ideas. So I write about the experiences I have undergone in my life. For the last two days I have posted nothing. My mind is completely blank now.

@Jessicalynnt Absolutely right.I have found messages in very simple incidents also, and whenever I find one,I start a discussion, but this doesn't happen always. Now I am toying over initiating discussions about my day to day life details. It would certainly be interesting.

sometimes a simple moment can have a message. Still, we like to hear what is going on for others. I find day to day life details interesting, especially since we hail from all over!

It all depends on my mood, or what has inspired me or what pissed me off. I might write about dust and toilet seats but socks....not yet anyway.

I write what I think people will be interested in reading. But I do try to keep my post short. What's interesting is people's assumption or their reactions when they read a post.

there are some rules of thumb about net pages, if too much scrolling is involved most ppl wont read. TLDR (too long didnt read). I do, occasionally, but try not to have ones that are excessively long. That long and breaking it up would have been best.

@Jessicalynnt Totally, I try to keep my post within 15 lines. If I can't tell a good story in 15 lines, I probably need to rewrite it.

@Drosophila very true. It might even cover more than one story! I do, now and then. like my pieces on parts of a successful post. those were pretty long.

pfft, you are a strong person, and no one will judge you here. OR if they do that's a reflection on them as as a sad person, and not on you!

I guess I write some of both, but prefer to keep it light. Short is good, but I rarely read or respond to those one sentence "discussions" that some like to post. Humor is always good, though not easy to write well.
