myLot photo specifications

This is how the photo area for discussions is set: "The maximum width is set at 726px which is set in stone. The maximum height is now 403px, and that's what we started testing yesterday. So it's basically the same aspect ratio you would have on your high-def TV, 16:9." These are the words of Bugsy. So if you want a full photo to display in a discussion, it must not be any larger than this. There are many programs, including Paint, that will allow you to resize photos. If you don't wish to resize a photo, you can always tell members they need to click the photo to view the full image - however, if your photo is too big, it still may not display correctly even using the photo viewer. Also. make sure the file size is under 3 MB. The file size does not figure into photo dimensions. Hope this helps.

This is useful to know, it would be great if Bugsy or Admin would add this to the guidelines, so everybody can check if they forget (and most of us will forget). I have written down the pixels, it's the same format we used in the new Bubblews.

If they forget, sooner, this discussion would be a thing of the past and not many would even care to note. And then, there would be occasional discussions from the newbies and even a few oldtimers asking what the problem is. So definitely, I am for the addition of this onto the mylot guide/help pages

@Mylotbugs, can this be put in the documentation at your convenience?

@thesids This is the only way to be sure that those who read the Guidelines also find this info.

The old Bubblews was 670x342 so most of mine were that number. With the new look, I put bigger photos and they are still here but I wanted to know the limits so thanks for this information I will edit them to fit this format.

Oh no I don't understand that. I get the file size but not this. I think I have this figured out, kind of small isn't it.

The photo area you see at the top of any discussion is a 726 x 403 area...

I wish there was an alert for the whole community to get this info from Admin. We had this in the old myLot. Remember? Where did you read this? I have deleted my post on the photo size. I thought some of you were just talking about this. I truly did not know that this was a directive from Admin.So. No questions asked.

Looks like I need to rethink the photo sizes I usually use, 1000 width is just too dern big. Thanks for the tip, it was easy to understand.

I discovered this a little while ago, tried putting up an image that was too big. I soon fixed the problem though.

This should help a lot. I use Paint to resize. As I am not well-versed in the language of tech, are "px" the same as megapixels? If so, then I guess that my ideal size would be 403 mp x 726 mp? Thank for posting this.

Hate it when part of a photo doesn't display, or having to work out the sizing of the photo needed myself - so this is a very helpful post - thank you!

Thanks for the info. I was going to try to figure it out, this is much easier. Adding it to the help area would be a great idea.
