I told my husband: no more, I'm done with it, I'm way too old for it, it's too much work....

Did he listen to me? No. He must have thought I was off my rocker when I said no to his request. He said I am not a good wife if I refuse him. Do you believe this?
But now I have given it a second thought and decided he is right. We will be having another yard sale in March or early April. After the last one I swore it was the last one. But things happen, stuff accumulates and I finally agreed with him....one more yard sale it will be, but this will be the last!
Photo is mine of one of our previous yard sales

I think if a person stays organized a yard sale can go pretty well. I did an estate sale and it went very well with just a bit of organization.

I am a very organized person, have to be! When I think something will wind up in a yard sale I clean it and price it and put it in a big box. That way things are ready to go if/when we decide to have a sale.

@celticeagle There is no problem? This was written in jest - I'm the one who wants to have yard sales, not my husband! I have been doing yard sales since I was in my 30's...no problem how to run one.

I box it up and donate, used to do the yard sale thing, never made more than 20 bucks for a couple days of sitting in the heat. When I used too, I made hard rule though, once it goes out, it doesn't come back. if it doesn't sell, it sits on the roadside with a free sign, and whatever is left the next date goes into the truck bed and I drop it off at whatever local resale donationy shop.

Yard sales are a way of life down here, never had a bad one. The worst we ever had was $150. There are things I do donate, but some things need to be sold.

@AbbyGreenhill Thanks. My hair is longer now and I didn't like the other photo much! Will you be selling some books? :)

I have never had a yard sale, probably should. I helped my sister in law with one, I couldn't believe how much work to move the stuff out and in every day for 4 days. I was exhausted.

@fishtiger58 I would not have one w/o a garage or storage building or something. We set it up a day or two ahead of time and shut the doors. We've had some amazing yard sales. My husband had three sets of hundreds of tools (years of working on cars on the side) and we sold $700 worth one yard sale.

We set up in the garage, no moving stuff...and yard sale is two days max...this one will be a one day sale since we don't really have all that much. I'm having it basically to sell the old fridge!

@AbbyGreenhill I wish my sister in law would have had a garage, but she didn't so we worked like dogs.

I don't like doing yard sales either so I don't blame you. I hope this one will turn out better than the last one.

This was tongue-in-cheek - I love doing them, he is the one that isn't thrilled!

For some they are a lot of work, I've done so many in my life I could run one in my sleep. We set up two days ahead of time - in the garage - easy peasy!

I have had my share of yard sales too. I have only been some what successful with them when another neighbor has one on the same day. When there are two yard sales going on in the same neighborhood, that really attracts people.

If it wasn't worth it here I wouldn't bother. But we will have that fridge to sell and if we get $500 for it it sure will be worth the effort.

We usually have a community yard sale here once a year but I'm too old to gather all that stuff and sit outside while people browse. Hope you have success with your next one and somehow I think it won't be your last

We haven't had a yard sale in a while, I usually sell stuff on the Facebook yard sale pages now.

We do too but we have a refrigerator to sell plus a lot of other stuff so I will start with real yard sale and sell leftovers thru fb groups.

Yard sales are a lot of work. I have one every year in late May or early June. That is enough for me.

We have averaged two a year since we moved south (15 years) and the last 4 or so we swore no more! But, we buy a new gadget and now have a box of gadgets that need new homes.

We do not have such a concept here. How does it work? Do the neighbors buy?
