How to Get Spam without Going to the Market

Would you like to receive $7,000 per week for life, and then have someone else receive it for theirs? I would. So when Publisher’s Clearing House starts advertising, I mark the last date to enter on my calendar. I enter just before, and not sooner.
I do this because I want to limit the time in which I will receive unwanted email advertisements from them. I’m pretty lucky. I found an Internet Service Provider that filters all of my mail. They only allow through email from addresses I have placed in my Address Book.
All of these unwanted emails go to my spam folder. I entered last week and have been inundated with spam ever since, but again, only in my spam folder. I can scan through this stuff quickly and click on delete all. Gone in seconds.
I know that PCH is paid a fee for advertising the magazines on their sweepstakes site, but they also must sell their email lists. Otherwise, why would I get so much junk email (over 30 each day after I first enter)? That’s a small price to pay. The spam is sequestered and easy to eliminate. It also tapers off once the owners of the spam sites realize that I am not going to click on their messages.
Do you ever enter contests? I enter this one and the three for houses on HGTV each year, but that’s all.

The most I have won on the lottery is $12.00. I have not won a multi-million dollar house, yet. Have not lucked out and won $5,000 a week for life yet either. But except for the lottery (where I spend no more than $4.00 per month to enter), the others cost nothing to enter.

@ElizabethWallace My best win was winning the jackpot at bingo on the Queen Mary. I won enough to pay for my trip. Great excitement that day!

@ElizabethWallace It is also annoying to go through the SPAM just to be sure that nothing interesting ended in that category.

@LadyDuck Sure, but it takes me just a moment.

Yes, if I didn't have a spam filter, I would not enter anything.

@ElizabethWallace It is usually the stores etcetera that tidy up the lists, whereas a few sources that send the notorious spam continue indefinitely.

@Asylum I guess I have been lucky then. It always goes away after a few weeks.

Maybe they do not remove names, but after a short time receiving these emails (which go to my spam folder), they stop.

Any email that comes in that is not in my list goes to the spam folder and within 7 days is wiped out but I find having an email account just for junk mail is easier to handle as I very seldom even check it.

I only get spam for a short time, and it goes to my spam folder, where it is erased after a couple of days.

@Marcyaz Then we have the same system. Most people I know do not have this type of filter, if any.

I used to. I like your thoughts on when to enter this one. I have a lot of questions about PCH. Like how can a magazine clearing house afford to pay out these big bucks. I have seen how many mags companies are trying to get me to subscribe and I don't. I mean this is money we are talking about here. How can we trust something like this? Really trust them? For years to come are they going to pay out these big amounts? And, are they going to be around for our next generations and pay them? I really don't trust them. That is my thoughts on PCH.

I can't remember that last time I entered a contest, I sure hope you win.

I have entered them in the past. I am a bit burned out with them at the moment.

The good thing is that you can play or not, whenever you feel the urge.

I have ignored PCH for years now. I got tired of them back when they filled my snail mail box with junk and I think they were investigated too.

Maybe so, but online is much easier than the snail mail stuff. I do not get junk, and these spam emails will stop shortly.

I do get a lot of SPAM, but my filter works pretty well. I also enter the Publisher's Clearing House contest, but I usually enter it more than once.

My theory on contests and the lottery is that if I am supposed to win, once is enough. If I am not, then more than once or more than one ticket, like for the lottery, is a waste of time or money.

Thanks. The ones I enter are easy and mostly fun. Winning would be a bonus, a big one!

We buy lottery tickets every week. We did win $500 once and a few smaller amounts over the years.
We pay $100 to enter the hospital contests to win a huge home that we could never maintain! Who knows if the winner could even sell those houses. They are ridiculous. Last year one had a bowling ally in it! I enter a few contests in magazines etc. I haven't noticed a lot of spam from them.
