Good morning my fellow myLotters!
If you are planning to stay here in the Philippines for a vacation, you'll most likely encounter this very popular breakfast fare. It is called tapsilog .
Tapsilog what?
Basically, tapsilog is a contraction. It is tapa , itlog , and sinangag . That's fried beef strips, sunny side egg, and garlic fried rice. It is usually served with hot beef broth. The fried beef strips are dipped in vinegar and chili. I usually eat my tapsilog in some sort of ritualistic way.I mix the beef strips, egg, and fried rice, pour some spicy vinegar, and add lost of black pepper. I can never have tapsilog in another way!
What's the usual breakfast fare in your country?
Plus, do you have some funny contractions to share? I ask this because we have all sorts of -silog meals. Just look them up online. LOL! Also, I had this breakfast at a place called SEx ! That's Sinangag Express for you! LOL! Not sure how or who started it but people started referring to the it by SEx!

That's too bad! Can't really picture a city in the Philippines without the 'silog' meals!

Agree on the fried and loaded with cholesterol comment! Kinda makes you think why unhealthy food always tastes so good!

Pancakes, omelets, and bacon. Now that is a breakfast.

This past week I've been having a cup of black coffee to start my day. Breakfast comes in at 9:00am. It differs everyday as I like to mix things up but oatmeal and muesli are my top two favorite so far.

That sounds like a nice meal. I'm not eating breakfast at the moment but I used to have porridge or cereal.

@allen0187 I found it very filling. A plateful of porridge and I didn't need anything else till lunchtime.
