A Free Day

United States
March 9, 2016 9:06am CST
It's a rare joy to have a day where nothing is planned. The humidity is low, the breeze is cool, the sun is shining and no one is expecting me to call, visit or work for them. There is plenty to do, of course. I'm thrilled still from yesterday when I burned the mortgage. I'm looking forward to a St. Patrick's dinner on the 17th. I have cards and packages in the mail, some outgoing and incoming. Life is good. What are your plans today? My first is to catch up here and then go outside!

My plans are the same as they are most days. I will be here most of the time. I did take my dog for a walk earlier, and when I came back, I started posting again, as I had a few notifications to take care of. I love being here and while I am here, I have a lot of fun interacting with others.

This is so nice to be able to post at your leisure. I try to check in several times a day, but can't always do that.

@Jeanniemaries That is okay, as your life doesn't revolve around mylot, and mine doesn't either. I am retired though, and divorced, so I have no one here, so I can be in here anytime that I want and whatever I have time for. I love it here and I want to be here as much as I can be.

@rosekiss I'm retired and alone too (widowed) but I seemed to have found so many things to do I'm trying everything until I settle down to the few I like best. Writing online has been a joy for many years now.

Oh I love the Bradford Pear tree when it's in blossom! In Ohio the streets were lined with them because they had such a nice shape. Even when the blossoms fall, it;s like a white carpet around the tree. It's definitely Spring when they are blooming! I never knew horses had a winter coat like dogs do. That sounds like a big job to groom out that coat.

I hope that you're enjoy your day today. I went into work, but wasn't feeling too well, so had to make an early and quick exit, I came home and took some medications and then went straight to bed for a while. I'm up now, but still laying down-I hope that I can get over this.

@Jeanniemaries Its a virus, but I've had it for over a month now. I have auto immune disease, so my body doesn't fight bugs like other people's body's do. I'm home under the blankets right now.

@Juliaacv Oh, I'm sorry to hear that. We all take our healing properties for granted and this must be pretty wearying to have to live with an illness so long.

Oh, I hope it's just a virus that will pass quickly. You did well to leave early and get some rest.

I could have more, but I do book myself up. There is really a lot of activities in our area and sometimes if feels like a chore to go, I always have a good time when I do.

You burned the mortgage. Yoo Hoo! and Congratulations! I am going to clean the whole house, organize all the papers, and paint the spare room. Then knit my second slipper so it is ready for the instructor to show me the heel tomorrow. Well that is the plan. That is always the plan.

@Jeanniemaries I will add making someone laugh to my list and then I can tick that off! Okay, off I go to do at least something. Tomorrow is a busy day, away from home so I need this productive day at home. Enjoy your day off and don't do too much. We need those days too.

@paigea It's funny you say this. Last night my daughter was complaining that her college student home on spring break was doing nothing and she was going to get her out to do a hike or something. I reminded her that when in college you work very hard and live with many others so you are "on" all day every day. She probably is truly resting during her break and to let her so she will go back refreshed. She got all A's her first semester and also did Flag Corps during football season. Being an only daughter, living in a dorm full of women has got to be exhausting. I think she earned this break! So I agree, we all need those days.

These days I rarely have plans. Life was very different when I worked, but since retuirement most days are totally free and usually satisfy myself with a stroll around for an hour or so.

I am always booking myself for events. I just signed up for a two hour Egegami class, a social, a concert, a knitting group all at my local library for next week. I have a game night on Friday, a dinner on Saturday and the following Thursday....plus my geocaching trips and doing my pocket letters at home....

I should certainly have more lazy days but I do book myself up with events and also I am the primary caregiver for my mom who lives alone around the corner. She is 87 and needs something almost daily. Today my sister is visiting. She lives locally but doesn't have a car so rarely is able to help out unless I bring her for an extended visit.

Our unit was finally rewired by Tyco. I pinched a nerve in my back this morning, so enjoying the view. I'm beat from being on the go since last Wednesday. Many congrats on burning your mortgage. We did that in October!

@Jeanniemaries Drat that autocorrect. I edited it. Hope it makes more sense to you now. Duh! The condo got up to code on its smoke detectors. Now we can have that bonfire here! Lol!

Hope that pinched nerve heals quickly but what a blessing it happened when you needed the rest! Congrats on your bonfire last October! Not sure what you mean by your unit was retired. Tyco toys?

Congratulations on burning the mortgage. I remember when my parents did that. My plans - I had AWANA tonight. It was dot your leader. I had 10 dot stickers on me. The kids could put a dot on you for every verse they said. My one girl who usually only says one verse did six tonight and finished her book. It was awesome. My other girl did 4 verses. It's so great to see kids memorizing scripture and having fun. So other than that, it was working on a book and washing the kitchen floor. I'll finish that tomorrow.

@Jeanniemaries They really did. I was so happy for the girl who finished her book. The other one is already on her review book. I normally have four children at my table, but last night there were only the two of them. My kids were in AWANA too. I was also a leader back then.

@just4him I admire those who take on the challenge of working with children, especially in spiritual matters. It is not something just anyone can do. It takes a special person.

Awana is a great program, all my kids attended and my daughter also is a leader in her church in Ohio although her kids are now out of it. The kids really went all out for you!

I like attending birthday parties. I just blogged about my great nieces 2nd birthday party. It was quite an affair for all the family. I have to say I was pretty happy when gift bags became popular. I always did dislike wrapping gifts, you had to fund a suitable box, locate the tape and hope you had a matching ribbon and bow and hopefully get to use appropriate paper. I can't tell you how many gifts left my house in creative paper because all the gift wrap I had was for baby showers. LOL!
