Ten Dollar Gift Card for My Inconvenience ... Today

This evening we went to Walmart to pick up some grocery items, and Skip's prescription.
We stopped by the pet department to pick up a particular chew bone our Pups like. I couldn't believe it ... but, somehow I knew ... they'd be out again at the most busiest time of their week ... Friday and Saturday.
This is Friday evening ... people come in to buy groceries, pick everything for the weekend ... including pet supplies.
We are no different. I became upset because once again ... the baskets/shelves were empty of many pet treats that people buy. This particular Walmart is always out of things ... we find out the department managers aren't ordering as they should.
Well, over time this has happened numerous times. We had to drive to another town to pick up what we needed.
I asked to see the manager ... explained to him how inconvenient it was to drive to another Walmart in another town ... every time we came there to buy what we needed.
I also, told him I knew when people got off work, came in to buy the things they needed ... and they were out ... what was they supposed to do?
Anyway ... it ended up that he gave me a ten dollar gift card for the inconvenience. I wasn't happy that we have to still drive to another town to pick up what we need ... I graciously thanked him very much for the card. He apologized.
Sadly ... this happens all the time at this particular Walmart ... shelves are empty before the weekends when everyone comes to buy their groceries, so on.
I personally think the employees are slack ... but, maybe it's because they aren't happy employees, who knows? This is strictly my Gloria Opinion ... I won't go into the whys? I don't know.
I do know when I go to a store to purchase what I need ... I expect to find it there. I understand when once in a while it happens ... but, not all the time. It really gets old.
Just my thing to fuss about ... today. At least ... without meaning to ... I gained a ten dollar gift card to put on the Pups' chews ... and when we go to the next town for Skip to take physical therapy ... we'll go to that Walmart ... there.

Good you got the gift card Gloria.
This Walmart near me does that too.
I dont know what the problem is, but they often are out of stock of a lot of stuff.

It must be a common thing in a lot of Walmarts.

Well, it is a one-stop shopping place so, we take advantage of it. The local one doesn't stay stocked as it should ... so, we know that in the next town we normally find all we need. We shouldn't even stop at the local one but, we hope we'll find what we need without driving to another town. :)

@GrannyGee Fortunately, we have other stores close enough together that we can get everything without having to drive far. We do still shop at Sam's Club for some things about once a month or so.

@DWDavis We also, go to Sam's Club ... we are 35 miles at least from it so, we go every week or so. Target is about 17 miles, we like to go there. Walmart is only 4 miles away ... and we wish it would do right :)

Bummer you had to drive to another Walmart. I hate when that happens also ~ but that was nice of him to give you a $10 gift card.

@GrannyGee not everyday you get a manager like that. Hopefully the next time you go the treats will be available to purchase!

Yes, it made me feel better ... that pays almost the whole price of the dog chews I had come to purchase. I honestly appreciated that ... and I thanked him, shook his hand.

Is the walmart you are talking about a big walmart or one of the neighborhood walmart grocery stores? I know with our local (big) walmart, there was awhile where they were practically out of everything. I've known people that worked at that walmart and so I think (for us) it is more likely that they couldn't keep people, they were firing people, so there was no one to stock things. I think they even had some temp stockers there at one time.

It's a super Walmart ... and it's the people who don't do their jobs. It's strange ... it's always been like that. :)

@GrannyGee Well I can't speak for every walmart but I know that some walmart's mistreat their employees, or try to get them to quit so that they don't have to pay benefits etc. Maybe not so much now since obamacare came about, but I've heard tales of our local walmart and how the managers can be.

@ScribbledAdNauseum You are right ... we have a lot of friends that tell us things. I can imagine morale is down ... and it's sad for both employee, and customers.

Yes, it was nice. I was very upset ... and was very surprised when the manager told me he'd give me a ten dollar gift card.

I see they are stocked with them all the time now. I really don't know 'why?'. I'm grateful they are always there like always before. I've learned since that inventory had something to do with it. I can sure understand that.

@GrannyGee Sometimes the distributor runs out of stock and shorts the stores. And sometimes the big bosses tell the managers not to order everything they need to restock inventory, because expenses are up or the terms of payment for a given distributor have changed for the worse. Even the stores have to tighten the belt sometimes, sadly.
I'm really glad your preferred treats are always in stock now!

Yes, that'll almost pay for the package of chew bones we get for our Pups ... only we'll have to get them in the next town from here.

This evening I was upset because it keeps happening ... I wanted someone to know how I felt. I liked the manager ... he understood.

Our local "Small Mart" aka Walmart is building a new, larger, improved (I'll believe it when I see it) store behind the one that is trying to fulfill the needs of the community.
I have to drive 30 minutes to get to the Walmart in another state to get the items I need. Even so I often cannot get what I am seeking.
When I complained to the manager at the local Walmart they said I should call corporate to complain. What? It should be taken care of locally.
I have considered trying to purchase what I need online and have it delivered to my local store. However I found that certain items can only be picked up at the store from which you have ordered it. Um What?
Annoying.

We have a grocery store here in town like that. They have a sale and the first day they don't have it. I just hate that store.
