God said so...

So me and 'G-Man' was discussing things over coffee this morning, and I asked Him about all this 'religion' thing I see all over the place.
And I do mean 'all over the place' because depending upon which one you look at, they are all over the place about what to do, where to go, who you can be friends with, what you can eat, all that stuff.
Anyway, G just looked at me and lightly laughed.
He said "Look BearMan, it is like this: you know what is right and wrong, don't you?"
I said "Well, yeah...I s'pose I do. We're s'posed to treat each other good, and not tell lies about each other, and lend a hand when we can, stuff like that."
And He said "Well it is simple then; let that be your religion."
And I told Him "But wait; what about all the rules about food and clothing and whatnot?"
At that, He simply started rolling on the floor, He was laughing so hard at me.
He calmed down after a bit and got up, brushing the cat hair and stuff off of His robe, and with a twinkle in His eye told me "Son, are you hurting Waapuu over there if you eat a piece of bacon or a pork chop?"
I said "Well, no, not really."
He said "Do you think I am only in church on a Sunday?"
I allowed as to how He was probably everywhere all the time.
He agreed, and said "Look; don't worry about all the stuff they say. They have their ways, and you have yours. Just be good; that's all I have ever wanted from you."
And I said to Him "But You make it all sound so simple."
And He said to me "Finally, you are making some sense."

People think all that extra stuff is "purty" and so ten commandments became over nine hundred pharasaical laws. If you have good inside, it generally will come spilling out on people.

People need to learn to let God deal with the rules and punishment, but they'll never do that.

If their belief is not hurting anyone, then why should anyone really care what they believe?
But "I'll kill you for not believing what I believe" (which the Christians, in their turns, have been just as guilty of as anyone else) doesn't quite follow God wanting people to be good.
Sad that we can't all just get along, which is what He wanted.
Spread the word of Love...let Him worry about who gets to hang out with Him after they die...

I am not a church goer, nor will I ever shove my beliefs down anyone's throat. I treat people the way I would like to be treated. Help others who cannot help themselves. Hug when I see someone that needs one. And never judge anyone.

@JolietJake I remember trying to find the good in an administrator in the school I worked in. She was a bulldog. It took me several years after she left the school and I had found other employment that I finally found something positive about her. Even when she dressed down, she dressed classy.

I find myself guilty of judging others (judge myself guilty?) even when I really don't mean to. But I try to be good, and see good in others, though sometimes it is hard.

It is simple for real.
All these rules and regulations are rubbish.
I once went to confession years ago expecting to be ex communicated because of all my terrible sins.
The priest said to me ¨Dont worry bout it¨ or basically forgedaboudeet lolz
Thats when I knew guilt was of no value.

Guilt should be used to judge our own selves, not used as a way to judge ourselves to others...or something like that

@JolietJake It's almost as if people were making it up as they go along in order to assert power over the masses!!!

I think they are two sides of the same coin..If you are good at heart..you will be sensitive towards others..you wont like being around bad people..you wont drink..you wont kill some poor animal to fill your stomach..and vice-versa..if you do all of the above it does make one a good human being..

I don't think drinking qualifies a person as being 'bad'

not bad if 'their thing' didn't sometimes extend to mutilation, human sacrifice and punishing anyone for being gay

For some reason, people seem to like to make it complicated.
