My son was home 2 weeks ago for a family wedding. He brought his dog with, Bones as he couldn't be left home alone. My son and his girlfriend got him at a shelter. They told me he was very thin with his ribs sticking out and very wary of people. They were getting ready to pick a different dog when they saw Bones. That was all it took, they had to have him. When they got him home for a few days he was scared of them and they just sat with him and talked and petted him. Finally he was happy and starting to gain weight. He is now a healthy happy dog and such a cutie. I think they told me he is part Labrador but I'm not sure. He is very frisky and wants your attention all the time. He is such a cutie. When they were here my son had forgotten to bring him some toys so my husband went to the Dollar Store to get him something to chew on. He came home with this orange pig and another toy that looked like a leg of chicken. Bones loved the orange pig and promptly tore it up. This is what he does, he tears up the toys so my son says. Within 3 minutes he had the nose, both ears, the tail and 3 legs chewed off. It was hard work and when that was done he had to take a rest with his new toy close by.

Puppies (and some adult dogs) chew - if you buy him something else, get elk antlers...they love them and they can't destroy them. We only buy Ruby 'tough chewer' type toys.If that is his photo def. some lab in him.

@fishtiger58 Ruby has a bunch of them and keep her busy in winter, in summer she plays so hard she has no energy to chew them!

It's funny how they have to wreck things isn't it? He must be so pleased to have found a good home.

Preiti did that too when she was little. We had to puppy proof the house. But all is well now. She has turned out to be a dignified lady.

He sounds exactly like our dog.... and looks similar too, we thought ours was a labrador mix... but turned out he was a patterdale terrier...at two and a half months his coat changed completely, he is nothing like a labrador now in size or temperment.... he's friendly , full of energy and short and small...lol's.

Bones is not real big either, I know he is a mix but don't know all what he is. He is a cutie and has a great personality. So glad my son and his gf rescued him.

@sueznewz2 Thanks I will do a search, as he was abandoned they are not positive as to what he is exactly. I looked they do look very similar, although the nose looks longer with Bones.

our puppies are also growing so fast that they are so mobile and move, pee, and poop around, that our house smells like a dog house now. they, and their mother Macy, also play around biting all things, that is why our house does not look like a decent house anymore, but a house of dogs resided by 3 persons.

My son hasn't mentioned if he chews things he shouldn't. They have a big mud room and so when my son is at school and his girlfriend is at work they don't give him the run of the house. No telling what they would come home to.

i'm glad to hear they adopted that sweet pup. labs/lab crosses're notorious fer chewin' - they'll e'en chew the wires out from under yer stock trailer if'n they get bored. i've raised many, they're very lovin' 'n high energy pups.

@crazyhorseladycx Bones can tear up a tennis ball really quick, it's pretty funny to watch him pull a piece off and spit it out and go for more.

I didn't know that labs and lab mixes like to chew. He sure does, it's like it bugs him if a toy isn't chewed up.

Yes, he's a lab and definitely a cutie. I've had labs and they are so good. Pip was part lab. I'm glad he responded well to your son and daughter-in-law. Labs do chew their toys. Mine loved tennis balls. First they played with them, I could actually toss it for her and she would bring it, but eventually it got chewed to pieces.
