Just because it is one dollar

Everyone has been struggling to the bone to get to those 10 dollars. Please do not rest on your laurels after you have earned your one yankee dollar. For me this is bad news. And you? There is prestige when the stakes are up.

I think it is good news really. From reading admins discussion they are doing it as a sort of motivational tool and to help people who've never been paid before. I think they're noticing many very new members are signing up and posting for a short time then disappearing. Primarily I think this is due to them not fully understanding how the site works. They arrive looking to make money, as the vast majority do, then when they see earnings don't add up fast they see the $10 as too far off so they give up. I think the dollar payout may encourage new members to stay around longer and that'd enable them to get the hang of the site and have realistic earning goals.

Those newbies who are not aware of earlier limits may not get attracted to the site as one dollar limit may get them to think that this site is not big - just thinking.

@allknowing you could well be right. Very new members coming in right now wouldn't be aware of how hard it was to get to the $10 limit previously set. I don't know what the new $1 payout will do, I'm just hoping it'll be good for the site and we'll pick up some new members that stay around. What I'm most pleased about is that the mylot admins are trying really hard to get the site running nicely and they're trying new things to get more members. Also they obviously listen to members opinions which many other sites never do. All in all it's very encouraging....if this new $1 payout doesn't achieve what they want it to I'm sure they'll let us know and allow us some input to future ideas to build the site up.

It won't make any difference to the way I do things, but I'm all for encouraging people who can't spend much time here, or who are new.

We have to wait and see whether the site will benefit or not by this as I am sure many will put their mouse down the moment they reach one dollar - the thrill of earning would be achieved after they have got their one dollar - not a good thing for the site - just saying.

@jaboUK Getting to 10 dollars has been a struggle for many here and now since they know they will get paid even when they have reached up to 9 I feel there will be less activity here.

@allknowing I honestly don't think that they will put their mouse down - rather they will strive for the next dollar.

One dollar, in my opinion is just the beginning. I still intend to get at least ten and probably more each month. I cannot rest at one.

If your goal is 10 then you can disable details of your paypal in your settings and add them when the time is right.

I'm inclined to agree, earning a mere dollar is not really something to strive for. Maybe $5, but $1 does make it too easy for people to post anything. Those tiny posts are already peppering the site. I guess it will all even out in the end.

Site will surely compare results and if they find this is not helping them then I feel they will revert to the old minimum. We have to wait for 2 months to see how it pans out.

I would have not lowered so much the minimum payout. One dollar is too low and I fear that this will attract spammers.

What about the lethargy that will set with those who hitherto struggled to get to the 10 dollars payout?

@LadyDuck We have to watch and see if this pushing stops.

@allknowing I have noticed that every month, when the end of the month approaches, many users become more and more active to reach the minimum payout. I fear that lowering the amount will not push them to work more.

@gudheart That decision will be announced after two months

@allknowing I think maybe I would cash out at 5 dollars depending if we can only still cash out once a month.

I am fine with the news, as I am still aiming to earn $10 though I know I won't be able to make it this month. I think it might be good for those who have doubt in whether mylot is paying, so the $1 trial can give them some confidence with the site. Though we all know mylot is trusted, some people still do not trust mylot as they have not been paid before. So, I think it's a good trial for mylot to do.

It also could be that they may not think much of a site where the payout is just one dollar. Have you also realised that there will be less effort on the part of those who would have reached 9 dollars and below?

I'm already to 9 dollars after they told us so no worries for me. I'm not on here every day because of work etc so it doesn't bother me if I can't cash out each month. This is just a site to come here when I have free time.

There are those who feel happy if they can redeem every month and now with this one dollar minimum many will stop struggling as they used to, trying to reach 10 dollars. This could mean less users being here - just a thought.

Resting after a dollar? hahaha if we do that, that will put our one dollar into rest.

How about the thought that if one takes one month to earn that dollar is it worth it?

The 1 dollar payout is good and when it's reached. We should continue moving. Even small amounts count.

I was just wondering if the one month's time spent here earns them just a dollar whether it is worth it.
