~I Don't Know What To Do~

A little while back I told y'all that we adopted a dog from the shelter. We introduced the two dogs outside as the shelter told us to do. We kept them separated for a little bit until Jules' kennel cough went away. She got better and we introduced them. Jules HATES our other dog! Every time we bring them together Jules bites Girl and growls at her. We cannot always keep them separated, it's starting to become really tough. I was hoping she would come around and start to like our dog but that is just not happening... I'm not sure what to do but I might have to re-home Jules if she keeps biting our other dog-I don't want the kids getting bit accidentally. I wish Jules would just stop being hateful to Girl and get along but I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon. =(

That really sucks that they can't get along. I wish I had some answers for you. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. And I am sorry if you have to get rid of Jules

@T_gray Yeah it does and we have tried everything-giving them love at the same time (thinking it was jealousy), giving them both treats at the same time, playing with them together, taking them on walks together-and nothing is getting better. =(

I have been in this situation before. Unfortunately, the two we had never did get to like each other. I hope it works out better for you!

@jahunt Yeah I don't see Jules ever calming down enough for them to get along. =(

@LovingMyBabies That's too bad. Well, good luck. Maybe they'll work things out?

Sad that they don't get along but if it's not working than I guess rehoming is the answer

@Marilynda1225 Yeah it is really sad. =( I know, I just hate that this is the outcome.

I wish my daughter-in-law could help you. Among her many talents, she's a dog trainer, too. As a doula, she has gotten jealous dogs to accept newborn babies. Sounds like an awful situation for you.

@DianneN Me too! It is very difficult in this situation, they always have to be separated and that makes things hard.

This sounds a very difficult situation. I don't really know anything about dog-training. Hope someone has an idea which helps.

@Judyev It is really difficult and unfair to the dogs and our family. =( Thank you.

@fishtiger58 Yeah we have given it a while now and its just not fair to keep one locked up at all times. And the kids sometimes let one of them out while the other is out and it's not good. I do not want any child hurt and that's my biggest concern at this point. =(

@LovingMyBabies I so understand that, I know you love your dogs but the kids safety is the most important deal.

Sorry to hear that the dogs can't get along well. I have no idea how to let dogs get along with each other. Hope Jules will eventually get well with Girl, and you do not need to re-home her. But, why did she hate Girl so much?

@kaka135 Thanks. She is a very nervous dog, she was a stray before going into the shelter. There are lot's of aggressive dogs at the shelter so I think she believes all dogs are mean-so she attacks them before they hurt her. =(

I have the same problem with my two dogs. They are both male dogs. They are not very friendly with each other so i dont allow them to get close to each other to prevent fights.

@mammots Yeah it is so frustrating. With young children here I just cannot take the chance of an accident happening.

Try to play with them together. Like have some toys with the same color. I hope it would help.

@Shavkat We tried that and taking them for walks together-loving on them together-absolutely nothing is getting better.

I'd say take both dogs to a dog training class and get professional help.

@Mike197602 I totally wish I had the money to do that. Trainers are a lot of money and we just cannot afford that right now.
