Sweet Susie got drunk, thought she'd try To dance on a table nearby, Attention she caught, Showed more than she ought, "Nice legs", said a guy passing by. Those words as a compliment taking She thanked him, but he said just joking, "I didn't mean yours But the table's of course, For taking your weight without breaking!" She was hurt, he felt so contrite, Tried hard to make things alright, She said for sure She'd get drunk no more, D'you think they will wed? they just might! ___________ I was inspired to write this after seeing an incident in the karaoke bar Image from Pixabay.

This is a great poem and so funny. I imagine that the incident in the karaoke bar has a lot to do with what you wrote. Where did this happen? I am going to check.

Dancing
The impression I get of sweet Suzie Is she drank so much she became woosey But dancers (especially high kickers) Should try to avoid showing their knickers Unless of course she is a floosey

@jaboUK Nice to know that she is not a flirt But her reputation will surely get hurt Drinking so much gin Is not really a sin But it would help if she wore a long skirt

@Asylum Long skirts may be better it's true, There wouldn't be so much to view, But if she were demure She'd have less allure, Their meeting would not then ensue.

@Asylum She wasn't really a floozie, Nor was she normally boozy, But for a prank 3 gins she drank, Next time she will be more choosy. Love your rhyme and the animation

People often do silly things when drunk... And you never fail to make us laugh with your limericks. I so wish you would publish those limericks or something. I would buy it right away. I so want to keep them as a reminder. I can't be sure that they will be married. Maybe date for a while then see where things go.

There's a bar here (in Spain) that has non-stop karaoke every day from 2pm until 8pm, so if the weather is a bit dull or we want to get out of the sun, that's where we go. It's great fun and of course you can come.

Oh what images come to mind with this one .... just imagining a drunk trying to get up on a table would be hilarious. If the drunk made it up on that table welll just think of the laughs we'd all get You come up with the funniest scenarios Are you still in Spain? I'm betting you're having so much fun.

My goodness, Janet. Now that you can type these so easily, or so it seems, some humor is sneaking out. Course, many of us have gotten a good chuckle out of other limericks of yours, but you keep surprising us/me when I least expect it. Did those in the incident get together after their 'fight' too, or they just jump started your idea? Btw, I got here via Barry, but I was on my way already. He just provided a direct link instead of me having to use the search option.

@MarshaMusselman The sight of a woman slightly the 'worse for wear' trying to get on a table was the trigger - the rest is from my imagination.

@jaboUK I used to write limericks and got a variety of responses, it was their take on the poem, and I was fine with that whether or not I meant it to be funny. I was thrilled they actually had a response to them.

@PainsOnSlate Lol - I've never danced on a table either, so we've both missed out. All I saw was this woman trying to get on the table (and failing). That was the trigger, the rest is my imagination.
