Easter Egg Hunts

I love hiding, and finding Easter Eggs. I love coloring eggs and many other aspects. I do not like community egg hunts. They really have nothing to do with Easter, but in my experience are a grand opportunity to promote greed. I took my kids to a Kiwanis egg hunt years ago, and watched greedy parents push over other kids to gather free goodies. I see in my news feed that the Pez egg hunt involved adults trampling small children in the eagerness to grab grub. I like little egg hunts. Like the one my brother's church has every year. Plenty of eggs, plenty of love. Plus, a message about the Resurrection. I feel sad thinking about the other kind of hunts.

@Hatley that is how it was the one time I went. And here were my five year old and two year old being polite and trying to take turns.

It's sad when greed ruins a fun day designed for kids.

There have been many things I began pulling out of over the years for these reasons.

@GardenGerty Adults should know better, but you even see it on those reality shows on television where children are the focus, but parents push and shove their children into the limelight.

It should be the fun of going but hunts have turned into greed.

That is right. I get tired of adults who are more childish than children.

Whatever happened to the days in which parents were more interested in teaching their children right from wrong? You can always bury or secrete a few eggs yourself for family or family of friends to hunt for.

We do not have eggs hunts here, but I agree with what you say. Children need to learn the real meaning of Easter.

free candy is not worth pushing other kids, adults should be ashamed

Our church has an Easter egg hunt too and it's pretty calm with no parents being greedy. The kids are divided into age groups so that big kids aren't outrunning the smaller ones

I think they should have them just for the kids, but that's sounds cool about your brother's church event
