How To Screw Up Your Life And Dozens of Other's Lives Too.

Canada

A Canadian man named Marco Muzzo, age 29 went to “HIS” Bachelor Party in Miami on a private jet. When he few back to Canada and got into his SUV his blood alcohol count was three time over the limit. He smashed into a family traveling the highway. He killed four people. Three children, all siblings, aged 9, 5 and 2 and their Grandfather. There grandmother and her mother were injured and sent to hospital. Not that it makes any difference but this 29 year old man was a billionaire or in line to inherit billions. Couldn't he just call a cab? His history with drinking and driving was awful and mentioned in the court too... The trial is over. He is going to prison for 10 year less the 4 months he's already been in jail. When he gets out he will need a driver because he will not be allowed to drive for 12 years. He managed to kill a whole generation of this family. It is a heartbreaking story to read but here it is:
Convicted impaired driver Marco Muzzo has been sentenced to 10 years in prison in connection with a Vaughan, Ont., crash that killed four members of the same family and seriously injured two others.

This quick judgement is very impressive. In India it normally takes over 10 years to dole out justice.

There is another court case going on, The murders happened three years ago and the trial started months ago and is still going strong. It wasn't 10 years but it felt like it...

That's a crime. The family has the right to go back on the bartender who served them over the limit, do you know if they are able to still pursue that across the border?

If he had a private jet, Julia, he probably served those drinks himself without any bartender on duty. I'm not sure how private jets are set up regarding that though.

He flew home on a private jet, Probably (but I don't know for sure) on one that his family owns. Slim to none chance of getting the person who served him. He might have been his own server. @Juliaacv

Way to short for him and he should have 10 for each life...His parole will shorten that 10 too. I hate to think of it but It might happen.

@PainsOnSlate This is injustice to the parents. Gosh! I wouldn't want to be in their place right now. To have all their children snatched up like that and at the same time. And the grandfather. I hope they somehow find strength to deal with this all!

The sentence is too light. The court should hold him accountable for the future expenses of the survivors. The survivors may find it hard to live a normal life, including going to work to make a living. 10 years of jail sentence means he will be out in 6 or 7 years. They always do not count the weekends. A year of jail refers to just 52 x 5 days, and then you minus out the public holidays.

How awful! There are lots of apps out there now that make it easy to call a cab. I guess even money can't make one smart. Or even just have common sense Sad though that people have to lose their lives.

Drink is a curse to anyone billionaire or not. It kills. This is devastating and disgusting that he did this and over here I can guarantee he would have gotten life not just 10 yrs minus 4 months the sod.

Really? In the States? I just found this about the states...Depending on the state that you live in and the specific charges, you could face jail time of over a year and fines of at least $1000. I the one who killed those children gets to stay in prison for all of his 10 years.

@TiarasOceanView I'm confused. I am in Canada but I thought you were talking about the US and I grew up in the US and never heard of anyone getting life for drunk driving... (nevermind...)

It's heartbreaking to read about anyone (or family) getting killed by a drunk driver but in this case you wonder why he didn't have a driver so he could drink all he wanted. Sad story

That is something we will all wonder forever. He should have and there would be no story, just a happy life. For everyone.

Although It's good that he can't drive for a long time afterward, I'm not sure that the sentence is strict enough. I did see that there they work on rehabilitation more than punishment. For the longest time reading this I couldn't figure out why the parents allowed their children and family to be in the same car as he drove not realizing that he hit the car they were in instead. Makes more sense and I should have thought of that earlier I suppose.

No amount of jail will ever atone for what this guy did. It's a shame he'll be able to afford a driver when he gets out.

Personally I don't think 10 years is a fair sentence for the family that lost 4 members. He should get life for each and every one of them. Another case of money talks in my opinion.

His billions is not going to get back those kids and their grand dad. The sad thing about hearing such stories is that people like him who have been lucky till now do not learn a lesson. There are unfortunately going to be such stories hitting the headlines every once in a while. Why?, because people have this misconception that such things happen to others, these are media stories and they cant get in the print because for some weird figment of their imagination, they are invincible. Guaranteed by God himself that they can never die or kill because of their drinking and driving habit. Or maybe their billions has put a veil between them and value of life as a whole. They don't care for life and hence the reckless behaviour.

I agree with you on all points. He is not the only poor little rich kid in the courts in my area. Canada is a kinder gentler when it comes to Government and laws, medicine and health. But we get some pretty creepy people who have more money than brains and they are scary. They have no filters, they do what they want and when caught its oh poor me....

It is beyond my scope of understanding. How can anyone be behind the wheel that drunk? I know there is no answer but that is what I just can't wrap my brain around. How do you do that? Thanks for leaving a comment.

That is a horrible thing to have happened. Entitled people really don't count the risks. Look at JFK Jr. His cousins were laughing at his predicament when he flew his plane into the ocean. They wondered how he was going to get out of this one. Well he didn't. And neither did his wife and sister in law. Was he fooling around thinking he could do anything? Was he drinking? I often think of the story and thought he must have been a daredevil and gotten out of a lot of predicaments for his cousins to think that way. I suppose eventually things catch up.
