Last shopping day, I decided to go earlier. It's such a big day with a long drive at both ends.
I've had to cut back a lot on my spending which is OK as I'm not eating so much. I was quite surprised to get a few packages of meat with savings over $10. One was a pack of peppered rump steak and I've been eating it for 3 nights with mashed spud or chips, eggs and mushies. The pack cost me under $5.00 so I'm feeling really lucky! To top that delight though, the meat was beautiful; tender, juicy and full of flavour; haven't had steak for such a long time. I mean I love my chicken but I was becoming a bit tired of it.

Yes one gets tired of chicken though it is usually cheaper.
This week I got a meat pack at Safeway which was quite good.
It was $20 for the lot.
It had chicken, pork, steak.
It will last a good while now probably at least a week and a half if not more.
The store has recently been doing these packs..hope they keep doing so.

Sometimes, rather than eat out - which we only do relatively rarely - we'll lash out on a nice piece of steak, usually when it's on special. Although it might cost more than we would usually spend it is a lot less than paying for a steak in a restaurant.

That is so true, and when you make it at home it has such nice flavor.

@GardenGerty And you can eat in your slippers if you want to and not those smart shoes that hurt!

I haven't eaten steak for ages either. So long I actually wrote 'stake' instead of 'steak'. Pretty bad.

I pan fried it. Started with the mushies and some butter for a few minutes, then added the steak then when I turned the steak, added the eggs. In a few minutes, i switched off the (electric) stove and put a lid on the pan. Everything turned out perfectly.

Yum. My husband is a big bargain hunter, so we get steaks a few times. I believe the mashed spud is what I got mashed potatoes, I usually have a baked one with mine. But what are mushies?

@MsTickle Oh, I love mushrooms on steak, but here when we shorten the name we call them "shrooms"

That sounds so very good. We eat out much more than we should. I think it is good to mix it up and have some variety in your meals and getting a deep discount certainly helps. We drive quite a distance when we shop since moving.

I am a vegetarian and so is my daughter so I am not very familiar with the prices of meat. My son eats meat but not steak. My man and his son eat steak a lot and I know that it can be pretty expensive.
