Dog Hair Everywhere

Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for the start of a new week. Right now my puppy Daisy is shedding like crazy. I don't know if she is shedding her puppy coat or if it's just the time of year for shedding. Bella sheds also but nothing like Daisy has been. Her hair is everywhere, on my clothes, in the air, on the furniture and I have even seen Daisy's hair on Bella's back. I'm not sure how long this lasts but I will be glad when it's over. I have had both long and short hair dogs and I think I would prefer a long hair dog when it comes to shedding. At least with long hair dogs, their hair usually comes out in clumps, not tiny little hairs everywhere. Is Daisy just shedding her puppy hair? She is 9 months old now and it has been pretty warm here so it could also be the normal shedding that dogs do in the spring. All I know is it is driving me crazy. I have to use the lint brush several times a day.

We don't have any pets, so I wouldn't know if it is normal or not.

@marlina There are times when I wished I didn't have any dogs...lol. But the thought doesn't last that long as I love my furbabies.

I would be crazy too if my dog sheds hair that much. I am allergic to dog's and cat's hair. I hope Daisy stops shedding very soon.

Thanks, I hope she does too. I am so tired of having dog hair all over my clothes.

It seems to be that time of year for dogs to be shedding their fur. My older dog is a shedder and she is also shedding a lot right now.

@simone10 I have no suggestions if you can't use a brush on them maybe you could find a dog comb and try that.

@Marcyaz I might do that as I am willing to try anything at this point.

Is there anything I can do besides just wait for it to end? Their hair isn't long enough to use a brush on.

Oh, I could see how it would drive you crazy. My brother is allergic to cat hair/dander and if he is around a cat, he is a mess.

I don't know about puppy hair, but this is the time for shedding and I know what you are going through. Besides daily brushing and vacuuming, I also takes my girls to my daughter's shop where the loose hair is blown out. It makes a big difference, especially when I also get Ciara shaved down.

With short haired dogs, would brushing make a difference? I don't brush them because it would just make the hair go in the air to land somewhere else, like the couch or table.

@simone10 Penny is short hair and if you have a brush that collects the hair, instead of it going into the air, then all you have to do is clean the brush when it is full. Here is what I use. You can see the wire bristles (and yes, if you can a bristle under your nail, you will know it, ouch!) and this is the kind of brush a groomer uses.

@simone10 Here is the back side of the brush with the name brand on it. Of course your dogs are smaller, so you would get one that is half the size of mine.

Our Lab is shedding too, I've always had dog that don't shed, so this is new to me...I have to say, not crazy about it.

@lilnana1111 It probably does. I wish my dogs loved it but they are afraid of the vacuum.

@simone10 Our Lab loves to get vacumed, we can't take the vacume cleaner out without her running up and bugging us till she gets vacumed, it must feel good.

It can also be stress from the move. It had to be done, but the pups do not understand. If I remember correctly Daisy was pretty high strung.

Yes, Daisy is very high strung. I didn't think about the stress of moving making her shed.

Too bad nobody can train dogs to use the vacuum cleaner. If anyone can successful do that, he would be a millionaire just by selling the course.

I think it's the warm weather. Willy, the cat of my neighbor, is shedding cat hair everywhere. He has the bad habit to rub my legs especially when I wear black pants.

@simone10 Yes, I came back yesterday with my pants more white and red than black. Poor kitty, I am not capable to make him stop rubbing on my legs, he is so cute.

I would guess that it's normal for Bella to shed in preparation for the summer.

Bella's shedding isn't that bad and is pretty much normal. It's Daisy's hair that is all over the place.

I don't know much about dogs and their shedding although I don't like dog hair on my clothes. Hope she gets rid of all her excess hair soon.

I know it is frustrating when the shed like that, and messy to clean up. Dogs are so worth it though.

Morgan and the cats are shedding here too. Morgan has long wire hair and she sheds both single hairs and clumps. The cats are short hair and they just shed single hairs. I can see the fur fly when I pet them. I'm ready for them all to be done shedding too.

I just hate it, don't you? The hair gets on everything around them, the couch, the TV stand, the end tables, my clothes.

That is another reason why I don't have pets. I don't like the idea of hair on everything.

The good thing is it isn't all the time, only certain times of the year. But I can understand as I don't like hair on everything either.

I always thought that animals and their hair are always on our clothes and our furniture.
