I have this over-heating problem with my iPad lately. As the days passed I noticed how the heat becomes greater. I decided to go to the shop where I bought it since it is still covered by the warranty. The technician told me that I must try to update my iOS to the latest version specifically iOS 9.3 to see if the problem will be eliminated. If not then as he said I must make it check to service centers for possible hardware defect.
The problem is I can't download the latest update. It always shows the error message "Unable to Check for Updates". I have tried all the fixes suggested on the internet but still don't have a luck.

If it's under warrenty demand they fix it, I think the technician told you wrong. What would an update have to do with over heating

@LdeL0318 I'm no expert but sounds like a fan problem or something to do with the ipad itself and how it's not cooling itself down.

I don't think downloading an update can fix it. If it's overheating, it can be the hardware. Be careful as your device might explode. Bring it to their service center.

The nearest center is far from my place. The nearest could be in Alabang or Makati which is 3 hours away. But I'd probably bring it one of these days if the upgrade won't work.

If you want to update your iPad for the latest version, be sure that your iPad is fully charge and you have a fast internet. If not then an error message appear and you cannot update that again for the updates will disappear in your iPad. Well, my iPad mini sometimes is very hot and that's because I used it in surfing the Internet. I just off the battery for couple of minutes and use it again. It works fine then.

I have updated several times already before. I have tried updating at night when no one is using the internet but it still fails. Before it was only the back part which gets hot but now even the glass in front is getting hot. I make sure that I close all the recent apps so that non is running at the background. But the heat still persists.
