A week with my CPAP machine: I have energy!

I've written here about my ongoing sleep apnea journey from the testing to the diagnosis to finally getting the CPAP machine and the first night with it. I've now had it for over a week and I'm really getting used to sleeping with the mask on. It honestly isn't that bad and not nearly as bad as I was expecting after what I read online. One of the biggest things that I've noticed now that I've been using the machine is that I have energy during the day, presumably because I'm actually sleeping soundly during the night now. Today was my first day of going to work after using it and I felt like an entirely different person than I normally do. In fact, I had so much more energy than I normally do that I went home, got changed, and went to the gym! That's a major improvement--I can tell you that. So far, so good!

This is wonderful to read Chicaa. I am so glad for you as I know the suffering of it..not for myself but with my adult son. He still hasnt taken my advice (what you told me) to go to the doc and see if he can get some kind of home testing. Yeah coz I told you he would not sleep at the hospital lolz.. It worries me so that he wont go..

I'm telling you, that home test was a breeze. Super simple. He absolutely should get the doctor to order one, especially since he is suffering so much with sleep apnea. It's silly not to do it when there is an easy fix available.

Glad to hear that your CPAP machine is working. Dragging yourself through the day is horrible and hope your energy continues to improve!

That is wonderful. Going to work tired maybe felt 'normal' before but actually wasn't. Hope the improvement continues.

Do you have the over the face or just under the nose sort of mask? I have had a broken nose, so a mask is a no go. The hardest thing that I have with a CPAP is the noise. Some nights it sounds like a jet is circling the house...
