Healthy turkey sausage!

After finding out my Triglyceride level is extremely high, I've been searching for healthier, low-fat recipes. I can't eat pork sausage so I make turkey sausage. It's very easy, and to me actually tastes better than pork. I buy ground turkey at the grocery store, add sausage seasoning (I think there are different brands, but it usually comes as a powder in a seasoning bottle.) You can add more or less as you like. I add a little olive oil, mix it all together, then I make thin patties, wrap them in plastic wrap and freeze. It seems to work better if I don't thaw them first before I fry them. If they're thin enough, you can fry them frozen, just don't over cook them as they tend to get dry. This way I can enjoy sausage with my breakfast a couple of times a week without the guilt!

I love the turkey but right now it is sort of expensive here. You can make a lot of stuff out of it though. That sausage sounds delicious.

It is a little more expensive here also, but I make the patties small. I also use ground turkey with ground venison when I make chili or spaghetti sauce.

@TiarasOceanView If I didn't have venison, I'd just use regular hamburger.

For just a few minutes of preparation, I save money (not buying the pre-made turkey sausage), I can season the patties exactly like I want in the size I want, and I know what's in them.

This is a great idea and you know what you put in your sausages.

Exactly. I can put as much or as little seasoning as I want and I know it only has ground turkey, seasoning, and a little olive oil.

I love turkey sausage but buy it already in sausage form. I had to give up pork sausage too because of high cholesterol but I do love a nice lean pork chop.

I tried the turkey sausage already made, but it wasn't as good as making my own and it was more expensive.

It's sure healthier than sausage made with pork.
