Do You Like On Line Contests?

If you have Twitter and see a tweet for a contest, do you usually check it out or ignore it? What if you see a post on Facebook, if you Facebook, for a giveaway, will you enter and try to win? I have a business purpose in asking these questions. I'm currently conducting a promotional giveaway on Amazon for my book RIVER DREAM. I am giving away five paperback copies of the book to random winners who enter the contest by following me on Twitter. The contest is limited to the first 2,500 contestants so each person entering has a 1:500 chance of winning. There have been two winners already, and over a thousands entries. I was just wondering if any of y'all enjoy such on line contests.

I might be the only person on the planet that doesn't have a Twitter account.

@infatuatedbby I haven't joined Instagram. It's not that I have anything against it, it's a function of time available, and I've not got the time to utilize yet another social media site.

You and @infatuatedbby, Scott. I have one but don't tweet often. I need to get better about it.

Sometimes I do, it depends what I am asked to do to enter a contest. If it's a simple matter to like a page or follow someone on Twitter, I do.

Personally for me, I don't join Twitter or follow tweets. Facebook, yes - I've won twice from Sammys - $25 gift certificate

Who wouldn't want a free book? Course there's always the library, but it takes a bit of work and sometimes planning to get there. I wondered why your book was used as the picture on this post, now it all makes sense. Are you hoping that some of those that enter but don't win may decide to purchase their own copy anyway?

It would be very nice if some of those who entered the contest but were not one of the five winners would decide to purchase either the paperback or Kindle version of the book.

@DWDavis That would be the hope of course. I'd like to eventually have books written by those I know, but first I need to get my own bills in order. What's this book about? I suppose I could look on Amazon instead, but I'll be a tad busy in the days ahead. I was going to write another article at hubpages this week and read a manuscript to see if I wanted to edit it and haven't done that yet. I also shouldn't be here right now, I should be paying my bills. Later.

I avoid most of them. I was wondering how others felt about them because I was running a contest to give away 5 copies of my first book. Considering how little I was able to publicize it, the contest did garner almost 1,400 entries, and two winners were chosen. A new winner was chosen every time the total entries hit the next 500 contestants mark.

Thanks. I am hoping the winners will like the first book so much they'll want to buy the rest in the series.

Sometimes - but when the contest Ts&Cs state "You allow XYZ to monitor your Twitter timeline", I think: Why? And then ignore it.

My contest only requires that you follow me on Twitter to enter. No monitoring involved that I know of.

@DWDavis Sounds harmless enough. I tend to use Twitter as described in one of my posts, otherwise keeping it at arm's length:
This strangulated burble, with its Pixabay picture of Iron Soldiers from Worpswede in Germany, is aimed squarely at the near-continuous streams of consciousness...

As in book giveaways, I have once. Other contests, I have done some. I might do one today to win a trip to Biltmore Estate. I have always wanted to go, but I haven't been.

I rarely join them unless I know the person or organization sponsoring them. I've joined many that my old publisher sponsored to promote books by other writers in their "stable."
