The Filthiest Stuff That We Touch (hold)!

Let me start this short article by asking a question. Which of the two is “germier” (germs) – the kitchen sink or the toilet bowl? Every day we touch or hold dirty things with thousands of germs crawling on them. And many of us don’t mind washing or sanitizing our hands after touching or holding them. Here are some of the dirtiest things we touch and hold almost every day: 1. Gas Pump Handles – The next time you drop by your favorite gas station, don’t forget to wash or sanitize your hands. Gas pump handles are one of the filthiest things on earth. 2. Money (both coins and paper) – Thousands of hands already held the bills in your wallet like cashiers, gamblers, cleaners, plumbers, mechanics, and some guy who just inserted his middle finger inside his nose! Ewww! 3. And, of course, our kitchen sinks and toilet bowls. There are thousands of things we touch/hold that are homes to germs that cause diseases like throat cancer. In fact, we learned a lesson from Actor Michael Douglas that we should not only wash our hands but also brush our teeth and tongues to get rid of germs. Let us make a habit of washing our hands thoroughly with soap after touching or holding dirty stuff to get rid of germs. By the way, there are more germs crawling in our kitchen sinks than in our toilet bowls according to the internet. You are free to add anything that you find appropriate (even inappropriate) to this short article to make it longer. Thanks and have a wonderful day!

I've often wondered how many people have handled my money, but it's not practical to wash it!

@antonbunot I've never heard of money being ironed. Accidentally put in the wash, yes.

@jaboUK My late mother used to do it to flatten crumpled bills. And I now think it is the best way to kill the germs!

@jaboUK My late mother used to iron crumpled paper money or we call in the west - bills. Ironing would surely kill the germs!

I knew money was laden with germs but I hadn't thought about gas pump handles. Washroom handles are another thing that is germ-laden.

As i am getting older , i am too getting so meticulous . I always wash my hand even after long typing in my laptop at the office . When i arrive from commuting to the office i would sanitize then wash my hands because i handed my fare to the driver . Everytime i touch money i sanitize . The downside , my hands are dry and rough already . So , i always put a lotion after washing my hands .

@antonbunot Don't you ever wonder why those kids who are in the squatter areas seldom get sick , even if they play and roll in the mud ? It seems they are immuned already to their dirty environment . But the rich kids , with nannies , can easily get sick specially cough and colds .

@SIMPLYD O, yeah, you are right about those poor kids living in the squatter areas . . But about those rich kids, I am not sure about them coz I never experienced luxury when I was a kid. hahaha

@SIMPLYD I do, too! I mean I want to live many years more so I always wash my hands after holding or even touching stuff that I believe filthy. In my younger years I seldom washed my hands after peeing and sitting on the "throne." Thank God I survived!

Everything is full of germs. There is no way of getting away from it. Hand sanitizer everywhere you go is needed to be a little clean lol

@Lucky15 O, yeah! But there are bars in other places that are not very "germy" . . like the bar that those sexy dancers in the strip bar use to hold while they dance and strip . . . Only few touch and hold those bars (just the dancers and some of the bouncers) hehehehe

@Ruby3881 . . I would suggest the ending of the use of money. Anyway, we have debit/credit cards that I believe much, much cleaner than money.

I saw an employee at Walmart walk out of a toilet stall and leave without washing her hands. I hope she does not work in the grocery department.

Me too, Ma'am Kyla @Ruby3881 . And to think that these food servers use gloves to fix the food then receive payments at the same time!

There's a lot of germs all around us. Too much sanitizer isn't good. Warm water with antibacterial soap is sufficient. There's other areas that people touch and they certainly can make one faint. Gosh! We really need to focus on sanitization.

@Teep11 I think we should make a good habit of washing our hands, brushing our teeth, and cleaning our tongues. I think Michael Douglas did not have this good habit years ago.

Considering the number of people putting their hands there, after a ritual at the comfort rooms, handling money from the wet market, etc., YES! Ewww!

I hate to touch the money, one of the dirtiest thing in the world, this is a reason why I love to pay using my debit card. Another thing that I do not like to touch is the menu at the restaurant, I always get up and go to wash my hands before eating.

I use bleach and/or disinfectant liberally wherever needed. I use disinfectant wipes on the phones several times a week. I hate being sick so try to herd it off. I even unintentionally laundered some money today. Dollar bills and coins came tumbling out of the washer.

I accidentally took my money swimming the other day. Have you heard abut the Scandanavian study that showed that kids who eat their boogers are healthier than those who don't?

Grocery cart handles @antonbunot . And yes, our mouths house more germs than even our hands. Which should make people concerned about French Kissing. Not to mention 'lower' parts; OMG. One thing to remember too is not to use antibacterial soaps all the time because they kill off the good bacteria on the hands.

I'm a germophobe, so I know that already. I can add shopping carts, door handles, pens in public places, water taps in washrooms, door handles in washrooms, remote controls in hotels, etc. Ick! My hands are almost raw!!!!

I am always shocked at the number of people who do wash their hands after using the bathroom. Door knobs and shopping buggies are usually dirty...also the telephone.

I have heard that money is dirtier that a toilet bowl, because the toilet bowl gets clean occasionally. It seems like they could irradiate it at the bank or something. It must be a public health hazard.

indeed, and if we want to live in a germ-free environment, we must make a plastic bubble where we could live in.

The kitchen sink can be germy especially if someone washes their hands in it from off of the streets. Lysol and bleach should be item #1 on the shopping list. My friend gets mad when ever I mention antibacterial hand soap. He thinks it's just a gimmick. Good guy, bad with germs. Now I won't let him near my kitchen. He fixes cars and all the rough stuff, does plumming and more. He'll just have to be mad.

Money is the worst. We don't usually think about it but its been in hundreds, even thousands of hands. Gas pumps too. I keep a little bottle of hand sanitizer in my car. I use it all the time.
