This Friday and Saturday the 15th and 16th a city in the next county over from us is going to have a city wide Garage Sale that will go on all day long. This is a big event and will draw people from many towns. I will be going on Saturday with my son and his wife and my other son who just bought the house has asked us to keep a look out for a few things for his house. I am hoping the weather stays nice for us to go looking for some nice things that we just can't live without. Have you ever been to one of these city wide garage sales?

I love going to warehouse sale because you can really buy items in a cheap price. It's okay to fall in long lines.

@Marcyaz I remember one year I got some really good deals, but the best deal I got was a radio/cassette/cd player I got for only 8.00 and then found out it was also a karaoke machine. I haven't used that feature because I stink at singing, but I have one in case anyone else would like to use it.

I've never been to a city wide garage sale, but a neighbourhood one. Our son lives in Wortley Village, an area of old south London (Ontario) and they had a yard sale in their neighbourhood a couple of years ago. Its an upscale neighbourhood, it was named Canada's top neighbourhood a few years ago, and we found some wonderful items. There were lots of great finds out there and just depended on what you were looking for. Good luck in your hunt!

@Juliaacv Sounds like your neighborhood yard sale was a success. Sometimes you can find really good items depending on what you have in mind. Thanks I think we will come home with some good buys.

@Marcyaz We found a queen size antique sleighbed headboard, which we loaded into our trailer and brought back to our son's place. And a nice crystal fruit bowl, with them only being in that house for a couple of months at that time, it wasn't hard to find them things that they didn't have.

I have never known one of that size, so it must be an American custom.

Nope i never been to any city with garage sales. And nor to any warehouse sales. I have no patience waiting on those long lines at the cashier section. And i am not comfortable on super large crowds.

Around here they have huge garage/yard sales - one is the Logest in the US - From Michigan down thru TN and into GA. I like small yard sales - I avoid crowds.

I've never been to a city wide garage sale but we do have whole community ones in my area where all the families do one on the same day. Sometimes you can find some really nice things at bargain prices

No, but the annual spring clean up (years ago) was like a giant free for all. I picked up,many good things that others had set at the curb for the trash man....eg, a playpen that lived through five mor children, a high chair, a lazy boy. Everything needed a good cleaning. Some needed some minor repair.

@Marcyaz no pride here. I was not the least ashamed of picking up the treasures some one else considered trash.

@Marcyaz I would LOVE to go to an event like that! I am not certain if we have anything like that here. I know we have market stalls and boot sales. Or maybe that's the same thing as A Garage Sale? But either way, I'd seriously have a fun time going through so many items.

@VivaLaDani13 Your market stalls and boot sales are probably the same only we have a different name for ours. It is fun going through so much and finding just what you would like to have.
