Is Bird House Occupied?

Yesterday I noticed the bluebirds were quite active around the bluebird house that hangs in a tree just off my back porch. I hadn't seen any building a nest yet, but the male continues to poke his head in and look around. There is an old nest in there from last year that I should have tried to clean out, but didn't. I hope he decides that the existing nest will do with a few added touches. Do you have any birds making nests around your house?

There are several birds that made their nests near our house, even a swallow under our roof. This blue bird looks cute.

@sgbrown I know they do, because our garden shack is cedar and I have to keep an eye so that they do not damage the exterior.

I don't know if any birds made a nest in the holly bushes(I call the holly bushes trees) I have outside. I know in the past there were birds making nests in it.

Wouldn't it be nice if they made a nest? We have lots of little birds around here but I haven't come across any nests lately.

Yes, it would be nice to be able to watch them come and go, feeding the babies and watching them grow up! :)

That birdie looks cute. We have pigeons circling our roof tops searching for spaces.

We have lots of pigeons in town, but I have never seen any around here. Although we have lots of crows that hang around. :)

I am sure we do, as I have found broken eggs in a couple of places under the trees. I have serenades in the morning as well. At our community garden we have bird houses and some of them are suitable for blue birds.

You just reminded me that there is a nest over my front door. Hubby found where a very small egg had fallen on the front step. I hate to see that. I don't know what kind of birds they are, I will have to watch and see if I can tell.

Thank you, Marlena! That is one of my favorite things about spring, watching the birds raise their young. :)

That's a cute bird house - I hope they take up residence. We have a couple of robins flitting in and out of our hedge but I don't know if they've built a nest - I don't want to disturb them.

Thank you! I thought it was really cute, but it is getting a little old now. I want to peek in and see if there are any eggs in there, but I would have to get a ladder and like you, I don't want to disturb them if there are. :)

Yes. I haven't seen a female yet, just the male. He acts like he is checking it out for future use. :)

If birds have any sense they stay away from our garden. Three killer kitties.

Your photo made me laugh out loud. What a cutie checking out a possible apartment. I hope he moves in and I also hope you get photos of the babies.

Glad I could give you a laugh! I hope they move in too. I had some in there one year and really enjoyed watching them come and go. I would love to get pictures of some babies! :)

I have seen no nests around but they must be somewhere given all the birds.
